Hey y'all, Anyone know which schools/teams are heading to the Jefferson City tournament this month?
  2. Who is going? Greenwood is sending Anne and I, along with the possibility of G-coop blazin' with either Mason Priest or Dalton.
  3. Any KC or Springfield teams planning on coming to the Pattonville Tournament next weekend?
  4. On behalf of the University of Washington Department of Communication, the University of Washington Debate Union, and the Policy Debate Coalition at the University of Washington, I am pleased to announce the Becky Galentine Memorial Tournament, to be held February 12-13, 2016 on the beautiful campus of the University of the Washington in Seattle. Our tournament will feature policy debate, L-D debate, PF debate, Congress and a full slate of individual events. If you went last year, you know we give out awesome trophies…UW Husky jersey with a #1 on them for the top speakers in debate, a true “Cup” style trophy for the varsity division winners and pretty good looking plaques in all divisions for all awards. The Galentine is also a great time to find out about the UW Debate Union, the policy debate program at the University of Washington. In only our second year competition, our squad is already fielding seven different policy teams in all three divisions of CEDA-NDT Debate and was received the Brady Lee Garrison New Program Award from the Cross-Examination Debate Association last year. Come join us in Seattle! More information here: http://www.com.washington.edu/debate/high-school-debate-tournament/ And tournament registration here: http://galentine.tabroom.com
  5. Hey there! I'm one of the few hundred people who got waitlisted at Cal Invitational. I was thinking for those of you who were still going to be in the area or on campus, it might be fun to do some rounds in areas on campus. After all, debate is more about education and learning than anything else, right? Let me know if any of you would like to debate!
  6. Hey y'all, I just qualified to the NSDA national tournament in, (you guessed it), Policy debate! If any of you have any information as to what to expect at Nats, I would love to hear it. I'm from a fairly traditional circuit, (Eastern Missouri), and I know that Nats policy is quite different than what I'm used to. (to put it into perspective, T and DAs were the only offcase that we ran or encountered at districts). My partner and I want to be competitive at nationals, (we don't plan to win the whole thing, but breaking from prelims would be nice). What advice do you have for us in terms of preparation, strategy, or anything else? A bit of info: 1) We've been running a super-stock policy aff all year, and we crush with it, but we've basically never hit anything but T and terror, so... 2) We have a very basic understanding of kritikal debate, but don't know a lot of the theory behind most Ks. 3) We kinda suck at speed, (but can improve). So what do we have to do to have a chance to be decent at nats? Thanks a ton!
