  1. Hey guys My name is Benjamin, I'm white, a male and it's my second year at varsity debate. My first day at varsity was messy to say the least. My partner and I couldn't really decide on a strong plan, so we switched from tournament to tournament. This was obviously not the best strategy, as neither my partner, not I, knew the plan too well. This season, my partner, an African American female I should add, wanted to do something a little bit more critical. She decided on Reparations for African Americans, and I thought that'd be fun. I was the 1 for most of last season, but my coach decided it'd be smarter for her to be the 1 if we're doing this topic. I know I'm going to have to say something along the lines of, "I'm conceding my privilege to speak on this point", but I'm wondering what else you guys think I should do, and if SFO is ran against us, how we should reply. Just looking for a few tips, your opinion would really help. Thanks so much and have a great day!

O I LOVE GREENHILL The judge is to an educator in the debate space—that requires rejecting debaters who preformatively or methodologically justify racism—WE DON’T EXIST IN A VACCUM.Vincent 13 – (Christopher Debate Coach, former college NDT debater “Re-Conceptualizing Our Performances: Accountability In Lincoln Douglas Debate” http://victorybriefs.com/vbd/2013/10/re-conceptualizing-our-performances-accountability-in-lincoln-douglas-debate) GHSGB Charles Mills argues AND community could have. YOU AS A JUDGE ARE THE GATEKEEPER TO OUR ACTIVITY. THE ROLE OF THE JUDGE IS TO COHERE WITH THE demand of the oppressed AND DEDICATE YOUR BALLOT TO RUPTURING WHITE SUPREMACY. Faced with complex decisions aversive racists feel doubt about a BLACK person and attribute that doubt to other areas. This is especially important at the Blake tournament that has made a direct attempt at increasing diversity in both policy and Lincoln Douglass. AS THE JUDGE YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO USE YOUR BALLOT AS A WAY OF CONFRONTING UNCONSCIOUS BIAS THAT I HAVE BROUGHT TO LIGHT. A VOTE FOR THE AFFIRMATIVE IS A VOTE FOR REJECTING THIS INSIDIOUS FORM OF RACISM THAT DENIES IS OPPRESIVE STATUS IN A SOCIETY THAT TURNS A BLIND EYE TO THE PLIGHT OF THE BLACK BODY. The exclusion of black adjudicators kills the integrity of debate and mask racism this is exactly what happened to Mr. Astacio and Mr. Johnson. THE BLAKE TOURNAMENT MADE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO HIRE BLACK JUDGES AND MAKE DEBATE A MORE INCLUSIVE SPACE. WHEN YOU STRIKE ALL OF THEM, YOU CREATE AN INCENTIVE FOR TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS TO NOT HIRE BLACK JUDGES BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THEY WON’T BE USED. THIS CONTINUES THE CYCLE OF OPPRESSION THAT I HAVE MADE VISIBLE. SHE IS GOING TO SAY THAT HER CHOICE TO STRIKE MR. JOHNSON AND ASTACIO WAS MERELY A STRATEGIC ONE BECAUSE EXPLAIN HER REASONING IN CX AND THAT’S EXACTLY OUR ARGUMENT. FOLLOWING THE ANALOGY OF THE JUSTICE SYSTEM, HER REASONS ARE MERELY MASKS AND DISGUISES FOR HER ATTEMPT TO AVOID VIOLATING THE ANTI-DISCRIMINATION LAW. OF COURSE IT WAS A STRATEGIC DECISION, YOU DON’T WANT TO CONFRONT YOUR WHITE PRIVILEGE SO YOU EXCLUDE THE VOICES WHO WOULD FORCE YOU TO. IF THERE IS A SHRED OF DOUBT IN YOUR MIND THAT THE REASON MR. JOHNSON, MR. ASTACIO AND MR. LEVERETT, ALL OF WHICH ARE MORE THAN QUALIFIED TO BE JUDGING THESE DEBATES, ARE NOT ON THIS PANEL BECAUSE SHE HAS CHOSEN TO STRIKE THEM THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT, THEN YOU SHOULD VOTE AFF.
