Dear Coaches, It is my pleasure to announce the inaugural Rotunda Classic: The High School Debate Tournament at the University of Virginia! We are delighted to invite you to attend this tournament on February 24 and 25, 2012 in Charlottesville, Virginia. We will offer Novice and Open divisions for Lincoln Douglas, Policy, and Public Forum. We are proud to offer 6 guaranteed in-rounds and provide trophies for top debaters and speakers. We will break to Open Quarterfinals and Novice Finals (both are registration permitting). Additionally, we will offer Student Congress. Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum will debate on the NFL March-April and March topics, respectively. We hope you bring students across all styles and experiences of debate. This tournament is cohosted by the Washington Literary Society and Debating Union and the American Parliamentary Debating Association (APDA) at the University of Virginia. As one of the oldest societies at UVa, the Washington Society has a long and storied tradition of oratory and was the cofounder of the Debate Section of Virginia High School League. APDA is the University’s only competitive debate team and does parliamentary debate. During your stay at UVa, we will be offering Grounds Tours and a question and answer session for students curious about college life. Any and all questions may be sent to tournament director, Stevie Chancellor, at director@virginia-debate.com. Please visit our website at virginia-debate.com On behalf of the Washington Society and APDA, we hope to see you at UVa in February! Sincerely, Stevie Chancellor Tournament Director Alex Stott President, Washington Society Christine O’Donnell President, APDA SPREZZIDENT Poster on Cross-X That Knows These People
