  1. A couple of my novice teams had trouble answering an aff with the plan text: Thus the plan: The federal judiciary of the United States should declare Section 211 of the Omnibus Consolidated and Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for 1999 unconstitutional. The advantages were intellectual property and rule of law- full 1AC attached, I'm not sure how to answer it, anyone have any ideas or a pre-made case neg they're willing to trade? 3. Recently, I've been having some confusion over whether I should be flowing some arguments on framework or on case against planless K affs. Here's some questions I have: 1) Should the "reps don't shape reality" argument be flowed on case, or on framework? In recent memory, I have been flowing it on case because I consider it part of the solvency mechanism of the aff. 2) How about "discourse doesn't affect social change" (which is kinda the same thing) or "discourse cedes the political to the elites"? Should these be flowed on case or on framework? 3) This is only tangentially related, but does framework need independent voters? I have never seen a 1NC framework block that says "D. Vote negative because" but I'm thinking about including it in my own framework frontlines anyway. My reasoning is as follows: (a) Standards are usually voters in themselves, i.e. vote neg to preserve discussion of topic literature - best education. So I should not have a section devoted to explaining my voters, but ( Framework impacts are usually distinct from standards ("no switch side debate -> dogmatism") and framework impacts can usually be grouped under traditional Topicality voters, like fairness and education. Any insight on the matter would be most helpful.
  4. If anybody is wants to help with with my cases for Jan/Feb that would be grealy appreciated. Any knowledge you would like to impose on me would be great (i.e. theory and K’s) seeing as I am fairly new to non-traditional/circuit LD. It would be nice no learn more about these areas.
  5. Im looking into making a case using the ideas of Quantum Physics. The basic thoughts I have right now is making a quantum network that will be connected to quantum computers specialized in running algorithms for medical research and maybe going through and using noaa for this any ideas would be great

  7. Alright guys, so UIL districts is coming up soon and I'm pretty strong in affirmative but have about 45 seconds left I can fill in my 1AC. I HATE kritiks, and I want to discourage the neg running them against me. So my plan is to write a framework contention in to my case to at least make it difficult for them. Problem being, I don't know how to set that part of a case up (placement in case, ev, or lingo). So what do you say guys, can you give me a hand?
  8. I have both an aff and neg for the living wage topic, but i wanted to expand my views and case size. PM me for the trade.
  9. hey all! other than using the good ol' handy dandy open evidence, how does one make a case neg? where do i start? what do i do? should i make case negs or case frontlines? thanks!!
  10. Greetings! For my state's regional debate tournament, I plan on breaking a new AFF. This time - however, I plan on making it a kritikal version following off of the lines of anti-blackness, but more of a basis on the Asian body and how it elates to double-thinking and double consciousness... (maybe some "social death" or similar impact in there too) but how exactly do I break an aff that is critical? I understand reading will be a HUGE part of this process.
  11. - Looking for judges, but they are optional (We'll both debate if nobody can judge) - This is a (progressive) LD debate - Speech Word Counts (400wpm) - AC = 2400 - 1NC = 2800 - 1AR = 1600 - 2NR = 2400 - 2AR = 1200 - CX after AC and 1NC - I will post AC after my opponent replies
  12. Me and my partner are trying to start up a Aff case based on finding the lost city of Atlantis. Has anyone seen a case based on this yet, and does anyone have some cards already? I thought it could be pretty good just on how obscure it is in general.

    the 1ar

So the 1ar is consistently my weakness as a debater. And I always feel really bad for putting my partner in a tough spot for the 2ar. I just get overwhelmed really easily by the block just loading up the flow with tons of arguments that i can't think of answers to all of. How do i strike the balance between effectively answering everything but also not getting bogged down in the nitty gritty. Because i've found that trying to answer directly every block argument in 5 minutes just doesn't work. And if i pull it off, the overviews end up being really weak, so there's no clear direction for the 2ar. Plus the responses on the line by line are always weaker than they were in the block because timeskew. How should I be approaching the 1ar? Are there tangible ways to make this easier or is the answer just practice? thanks!
  14. With districts coming up I wish to call on the community for help. I would like to know what you would run against it, how I could better it, or anything else you believe would be helpful. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Fukushima Case Updated.docx
