    2nc Blocks

What are the parts of a 2nc block? Also if you have 2nc blocks I would be happy to trade for them!
  2. I'm looking for useful blocks appropriate to the Nov/Dec LD topic. I have some already prepared that I can/ am willing to trade. Blocks with evidence are preffered (always) but will take/trade with what's offered. I compete this week, the next, and the 12/13 of december (I think.) Just shoot me a message and I'll respond!
  3. My partner and I are the only team from our school, and have problems keeping up with the research burden for circuit debate. We plan on breaking a new aff at our next tournament, but are having difficulties given it's incredibly hard and time consuming to cut blocks for every off case position. What is the best way/most efficient method of cutting blocks? Any tricks? Is it better for the long run to create a giant 2AC masterfile with generic answers to all off case then filter in specific answers as you cut them? What does a 'generic K frontline' look like if you don't read a plan text?
  4. I am debating LD this year and I am currently working on constructing a theory file. So far, I have a bunch of blocks for arguments like effects T bad, limits good, conditionality bad, etc., but I'm worried that I still won't be able to answer certain theory arguments on the national circuit because I don't have answers/don't know what they are. Can anybody give me a list of the major LD theory concepts, or link me to a place where I can find them? I did policy for a few years, so I know some of those, I just need LD-specific stuff. Any help is appreciated.
  5. Okay, so I've been debating for quite a while and just recently, I both got on cross-x and the national circuit big-stick tournaments. I recently learned how to give a 1AR correctly (the 2AC + comparison - fluff; basically) and I've run into a large problem when reading: the 2NC, the 2AR, and especially the 2NR. I've lost many debates this season because I simply fail to contextualize arguments. My strategy is usually one-off case in the 2NC, which I either choose or the 1NR argument in the 2NR. I utilize a blocked out file with every answer imaginable which I then throw into a speech, separated into the Perm debate, link debate, impact debate, etc. This strategy used to work very well for me, before judges started wanting contextualization and refusing to flow things unless they fell down the flow with analysis. I read off a computer primarily, using my flows as an extra, and only read off of them for end-of-speech stuff (Ex. "They say TVA, I answered that above, it's impossible...") but I don't really use them for line-by-line. My blocks consisted of "blocky" overviews which I explained (sort of) later. The fact is, that this simply doesn't work in the 2NR. My question is, how do you as a negative debater, utilize the relationship between the flows and the computer, the line-by-line and pre-written blocks, to effectively give a speech in the 2NC and the 2NR. I know this varies greatly in terms of strategy and style, that's why I'm asking for a general understanding. Note: I already looked through the forums, not really sure where I could find this answered. Another Note: If you have any suggestions for practice speeches/ LBL drills as well, that would be cool.
  6. Long story short, my partner failed his french class with a 0 because he didn't do any work and now he's not eligible for Texas TFA state competition. I'm considering to maverick there and I'm wondering if there are any tricks and tips on mavericking. I'm also wondering if mavericking is an option or not for Texas TFA state because it didn't specify on the website.

    Blocks

I've watched a lot of videos of college students debating and I see them reading off their computers for some and reading off the flow for some. I know they are blocks but I'm not really sure how to write blocks. Like I know they are suppose to be preempted arguments (maybe not) but I'm confused about them. How do you structure a block and how do you make it generic? Because I know everyone answers arguments differently with different wordings so I'm not really sure how to make enough blocks to even cover them sufficently. ****I'm talking about blocks from in the rebuttals, not the constructive speeches********** Thanks for reading, I'll make use of any advice you give

    State

So, I hit some affs at a tournament this weekend that I am not sure what to run against, would someone mind sharing what they have run against these so that I can prep for state. The OTEC one is what I need the most help with because we screwed up that round. If anyone has files on these affs I would gladly trade some files I have, pm me if you do. MHK's 1. Warming w/ six scenarios, didn't save the 1AC but I remember denialism and slavery were two of them. (We did not hit them, our other team did, they ran Cap - Russia - Oceans T <I think they lost>) NOPP 1. Marine Science Leadership - k2 warming 2. Maritime Conflicts - Japan v China in South China Sea 3. Stem - Econ collapse (We ran Security w/ China other link, POX, & "it's non-military" T) (picked up on K) SSD 1. Natives 2. Framing (Util Bad) (We met framing and read T on increase, and T on substantial, and anthro K) OTEC 1. Warming 2. No war (We ran Security w/ apocalyptic rhetoric link, Anthro, and T on development) *Also, if anyone has a unique aff that is this year specific that they cannot use anymore because their season is over, if you want to trade I am willing.
  9. Hey so I am looking for a decently large K FW answers. Not just like generics but also some very intricate solid blocks. If you have something of that nature, pm me we can work some kind of trade out. Hopefully...!
