  1. Has anyone seen or heard of the sports diplomacy affirmative? If so do you have any ideas as to what could be ran against it?
  2. Hello all I am relativley new to policy, and have started the policy section of my schools debate club. I was inspired to do policy after watching the documentary "resolved" in 8th grade.I just needed some help with getting a good understanding with proper flowing, and proper case writing so for the future this can help me. I know about stock issues but what is the format of the case, and how to actually flow, along with some advice for the negative. In short just please give a brief format of important points and an overview as on April 5th we will be participating in regionals as we are automatically qualified.
  3. Does anyone have G-lang answers (the you guys') arg that they'd be willing to trade?
  4. Recently I hit an IRS case and they only gave us a paper copy which they took back after the round was over, I flowed it but I was wondering if there is a brief or file online that has the case so I could take a closer look for my team's frontline against it.
  5. Hi, this is the director and producer of the film We Affirm! We Affirm is a new and upcoming documentary about the world of high school debate. We created this film with the intention to educate those not in the debate community about what exactly it is that we do and why we are so passionate about it. We also want this to be a film for debaters by debaters, which is where you guys come in! We want to be able to have debaters from all across the nation and globe to a part of this film. One of the biggest aspects of this film is focusing on the voice of debaters and letting them share how debate has affected their lives. If you would like to be a part of this, then just create a video and send it to weaffirmdoc@gmail.com . The video does not have to be anything fancy and can really just be shot on your webcam. All you need to do is say your name and where you are from and then answer the following questions: Why did you join debate? After joining, why have you chosen to stick around? How has debate impacted or changed your life? We look forward to working with all of you and hope to hear back from you all soon! If you would like to learn more about us you can check out our Indie Go Go page, too. igg.me/at/we-affirm-debate-documentary

  10. Hey I'm not really into performance nor do I really pursue it as a very competitive debate experience, but I do want to try and have the experience of running one even if its just in a mock. My main motivation is to run this against a couple of ppl on our squad that don't really flow and get lazy when cutting evidence, especially before state tournaments. I want to freak them out and scare them straight while having a little fun in the process. My idea for the performance would be that I would either create large cards in big text that would say what the card tags and authors are, or learn sign language or something in order to show how our team is making debate accessible to everyone. Feedback?

  20. Hi, If y’all have spring semester and TOC coaching/judging needs hit me up. I debated 3 years policy and 1 year Congress at Unionville High School, PA and 3 semesters of college policy at NYU. As a coach, my debaters have qualled to the TOC and broken at Lex, Dowling, GBX, GDS and Bronx. My debaters also got top two speakers at this years Blake Tournament, have broken at NCFL nationals and semi'd at Glennbrooks. I don't use cross-x as much as I used to so email me at Ananthvp1@gmail.com if you are interested. I have coaching experience in both LD and Policy.
  21. Long story short, my partner failed his french class with a 0 because he didn't do any work and now he's not eligible for Texas TFA state competition. I'm considering to maverick there and I'm wondering if there are any tricks and tips on mavericking. I'm also wondering if mavericking is an option or not for Texas TFA state because it didn't specify on the website.

    Planless Aff?

So, I compete in a primarily stock/comms area and am interested in running a K-Aff. I found one that I like but it doesn't have a plan. I'm sure this is a novice question but how would I go about running a case without a plan? Also, how do I defend T? How does the USFG substantially reduce anything?
  23. Hello everyone! I have a debate meet in a few days and I do not understand the topic for policy debate at all. Please someone help me and my partner!!!
  24. I'm relatively new to Policy Debate, and at a tournament last weekend there was this person who went Maverick and ran a thing called "whiteout" or an extinction impact turn. Their AC was a plan that baited the Negative to run a disad with an extinction impact, but then instead of refuting the disad they'd impact turn it, claiming that "extinction was good because life is suffering." Also, their NC was composed of a japan disad of the affirmative plan that yielded an extinction impact 100 or so years in the future, followed by a counterplan that would cause extinction "almost immediately." They then ran the same "extinction good because life is suffering" evidence and claimed that they outweighed on timeframe. Although this sounds odd, both the AC tactic of turning extinction and the extinction timeframe argument did well in several rounds and left my partner and I very confused. Does anybody have cards or evidence they could share regarding "extinction good" or an extinction impact turn? I also heard there's some specific philosopher associated with this idea. Thanks
