  2. Hey Guys, I have a tournament coming up soon where I am running a Bifo K. I would love for some advice from. people who are experienced in this area of lit of postmodernism. If anyone would be able to work with me, I am looking to cut down on highlighting, help answering some on case args, what to prep on top of current block file, and where I should direct the round as the 2AC. PM me if you would be able to help, give advice, or have any questions. Anything would be appreciated! Thanks so much!!!!!

  4. Hey, This is my first post ever here, the site seems pretty interesting. But anyway, I was wondering what ideas you guys had for k's on the China topic. It seems like the only kritikal aff positions are human rights of Chinese minor titles and the like. So, I'm not sure. Also, what kind of lit have you guys been reading so far. Thanks, -NNDG
  5. As someone who enjoys reading K lit, the wordplay and references entertained me. NIETZSCHE SOCRATES AND VOLTAIRE VS SUN TZU LAO TZU AND CONFUCIUS

  8. This professor has a ton of videos online explaining philosophical concepts/methods: https://www.youtube.com/user/PhilosophicalTechne/videos - including this introduction to Michel Foucault: https://youtu.be/Ua4wrcS9u3A.
  9. What is this argument and who do you answer it as a K Aff? EDIT: That was probably confusing. How do you answer it if you are neg, and it is ran as a K Aff.
  10. Does anyone have a fully blocked out Race/Wilderson K? Willing to trade heavily, PM me for a trade.
  11. Does anybody have a card/article or know where I can cut a card that says "anti-blackness not root cause of biopower" or a root cause according to foucault?

    Biopower Alt

I'm planning on writing my first biopower K for the new LD topic (I do LD), and need some help with the alt. Most of the alts I've seen are incoherent postmodern vocabulary or some bullshit like "vote neg". Whats the best alt to run to a biopower K (I'm cool with floating PIKs too)
  15. I am trying to run an Assemblage Kritik against Afro-pessimism teams on the Aff, but I don' really get the philosophy, could somebody explain to me what the thesis of the theory is as well as how it would pertain to critical race aff, Thank you
  16. Hello So as the title suggests, I run kritiks. I know that the alternative is always the weakest part of the kritik and often time is vague. I have been in rounds where the judge voted my team down for going for the kritik in the 2NR, but my mentor also told me to never kick the alt. So under what situation should I kick the alt and let's say go for the link turn? Thank you
  17. Anyone have a pharamacopornography k, cards, or a file for trade? I have a lot to trade for it

  22. really interested in reading this, can someone hook a brutha up with some lit?
  23. Sorry for all my questions. Thanks so much for your answers to these posts -- they've been tremendously helpful. I've been reading a lot about realism and the threat-con K recently, and I'm realizing that I don't understand what makes a critique a critique. Here's my understanding of how a threat-con K typically works: A. Link: realism bad because you create enemies when you call them enemies (self-fulfilling prophecies). E.g. moving troops near a supposed adversary turns them into an adversary even if they previously weren't because they have to act defensively. B. Impact: everyone dies. C. Alternative: stop viewing countries as categorically "good" or "bad" -- remove "ally" and "enemy" labels. Here's what I don't get... How is that not just a disadvantage or a counterplan? Can't I achieve the same thing by saying: Disad: calling X country an enemy turns them into an enemy when they're actually not one, which links to everyone dying. I read the following in William Bennett's 1996 Rostrum article "An Introduction to the 'Kritik'": But how do you divorce assumptions and policy implications? In a K, we care about the assumption only because of its impact (isn't the format of a K supposed to be link/impact/alternative?)... so how can we say that a K is only about core assumptions? And by saying that a K doesn't assume the burdens of a DA, isn't that just trying to be lazy about writing what's actually a DA? Thanks in advance for clarifying. It's a big help.
  24. Ok, so I currently debate in a region which is not too open to progressive arguments, so I was wondering how to explain why Ks and K affs are legitimate. My reasoning for Ks is that because fiat is illusory, the judge should vote on real-world benefits first (such as educational value), and that the opponent's plan inherently contains wrong/immoral assumptions about the world which affect the real world and the views of the debaters/judges in the room and future debaters/judges that hear the aff's ideas if the aff is not shown that their ideas are wrong through a neg ballot. Is there anything else I need to explain, as it seems that if I only say what's written above, the aff can easily argue that they don't actually support the ideas/assumptions found in the resolution and are instead bound to them by the resolution? I don't understand how K affs are legitimate myself, so if someone could explain why the aff doesn't have to uphold the resolution and can kritik it, that would be much appreciated.
