    K aff help

What is the best way to structure a K aff? I've seen many, but I'm not sure how to fully create one from scratch for myself. I'm unsure of what ideology/philosophy to use, or even how to pick what to use. Any help in how to make one would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I've ran Ks before, so I'm familiar with how the idea of a K works.
  3. i'm looking for this writing, and whenever i search for it, all i get is debate wikis. maybe i just suck at finding cards, but if someone could get me a link to this piece i would greatly appreciate it. 4. Hello folks, When I am running a policy aff, especially a soft left one, how do I answer generic Kritik links like the aff uses USFG or the aff is white saviorism or links from Antiblackness teams that we don't centre our discourse around black people . The way I have been doing in the past is either reading a bunch of state good cards or at least in this topic, say it's negative state action so we are taking power away from the state/ departure from the status quo. Are there any analytical responses or cards/ authors i can cut to answer them? Thanks
  5. Can someone help explain what "The War Machine" is. I have tried using the Debate Encyclopedia but sadly the page has been shut down. http://sdiencyclopedia.wikispaces.com/ Thanks for any help.
  6. how would a debate play out if the 1ac stands up and says nothing? this happened last year during semis at a tournament in Chicago; the aff said nothing for their 1ac, the neg replied by saying nothing in their 1nc, the aff then read cards in their 2ac saying "silence good," and neg still stayed silent; the 1ar read more silence good cards and the rest of the speeches were silent. the neg won because they were more silent. in the situation above, would the best method of action for the aff be to turn their case and say silence bad? is that even possible? how would you be able to win aff on this strategy? my partner and i are considering this at a scrimmage, but we don't know how we would possibly win with this strategy or what to do if the same situation played out. if we stay silent for the entire debate the judge would vote neg on presumption, right? are there any cards/case files somebody could link me to? we are very interested in this. thanks!
  7. Where can I find a file and/or a wiki entry for a forced clash K? I've seen it before run against Riverwood AD this year, but I'm not sure who so I can't find the cites. If anyone knows where I can find it or has backfiles willing to share or trade for it would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Last weekend I went to my 2nd tournament. (First novice tournament, I went to my first tournament open). My partner and I got 3rd place. We won our first four rounds easily, but the 5th round was a little more difficult. To add on to our arguments, I decided to run a conditional counterplan. I explained to the judge and opposing team how a counterplan worked as did my partner at the beginning of every one of our speeches. (Long explanation first speech, couple sentences every speech after). I thought we had it in the bag. Then I shook the affirmative team's hand and went to go shake the hand of the judge. He said to me "This was my first time judging and I really didn't know what was going on." At that point my heart sank. We ended up losing the round. He put two reason on the ballot. a) Because in their last rebuttal, the aff team said that our counterplan wasn't a legitimate counterplan because it was nontopical and because of an argument about China (which was a new argument that they brought up in their last rebuttal). I really enjoy kritiks and counterplans. I have been told numerous times by my debate coach to never run a kritik in a novice tournament. She also told me if I ran a counterplan I would have to explain it in a way that would make sense to the judge. Basically, my question is this: Is there anyway I can run a kritik or counterplan at a novice tournament that would make sense to a lay judge? (College judges are a little different). Also, would a judge find it offensive if I asked them their paradigm or if they liked kritiks/counterplans? I ask this question because one of our teams at that tournament because a judge felt insulted by them.

  11. What's a good generic Neg strat against K Affs for the China resolution? As a mainly self taught policy debater, I have no idea what are good strats against affs like Pan, Queer China, etc.
  12. Hey y'all, I was wondering if anyone had the Hudson '13 card I can get, willing to trade for it if need be. I need to be ready for blackness rounds for nats! Thanks!

    Secularism K

Can somebody please explain the Securalism K? I had a hard time understanding it even after reading. Thanks
  15. Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I'm doing a presentation on the strategic application of accelerationism as a K. However, I'm very confused on the parts of the K and just the debate strategy in general. I'm kind of unclear on the four parts. Our novice teams are only running one K, and that's the cap k. Most of my knowledge is based on that (and a couple other varsity K rounds I flowed). My current understanding of accelerationism is mostly based on the accelerationist manifesto, and it's that capitalism should be accelerated for the late benefits of technological evolution in order to create a future for a world threatened by the deterimental effects of capitalism, such as climate change and governmental problems. I think I understand the philosophy but I have no idea how it's run as a K. So here goes: 1. Link In the cap k the aff links to capitalism which links to the impacts by supporting capitalist ideas, for example trade. However, accelerationism is about accelerating capitalism for the late BENEFITS. Isn't this good? Does that mean affs who don't support accelerationism are bad because they doom the world by not creating a new future? Idk. 2. Impact The impact is good, right? Technological evolution to save a future. I don't really understand this part because the impact should be the undesirable effects. 3. Alternative I guess this part is pretty clear, that the alternative is to accelerate capitalism in order to technologically evolve and save a world in danger. 4. Framework Framework is how the judge should evaluate the round in my understanding, so in this case a possible fw could be the judge should vote for the team that creates a world post-capitalism. This is all my understanding of accelerationism thus far. We aren't expected to run it or master it, but have a general understanding. It would be greatly GREATLY appreciated if someone could look over and help me in understanding the link and impact! Thank you very much!
  16. I have a handwritten 1NC Shell, it would just be in case you ever get in a pinch.. It has a K I handwrote, w/ updated cards. I'm not sure what to call it but it's combinations of Dodds and Zizek. I have a CP, DA The DA is critical and has an impact of racism and the cp solves for it. There are a few answers to perm on the cp and an alt impact for the DA in the file. Its a total of about 45 pages. Pm for more detailed descriptions. Open for really anything trading wise. Just trying to expand all of my files. ***Also have a good file of zizek evidence
  17. Hey, I was wondering if anyone could explain the frontier kritik for me, and if someone would be willing to trade for it. Thank you.
  18. I recently searched on the Internet how to answer Kritiks, and it seems that I am supposed to answer them by using POSTAF. (Perm, Offense, Solvency, Theory, Alt fails, Framework.) My question is: if I hit a Neoliberalism K, can't I just read some Neolib good cards as my aff response? And if I hit Capitalism, can't I just say "Cap Good"? Also, I'd like to know how to tangle the Neg with having to answer the K and not kick out of it. *How do you perm a K? I just thought that was a CP thing.
  19. Hey I'm not really into performance nor do I really pursue it as a very competitive debate experience, but I do want to try and have the experience of running one even if its just in a mock. My main motivation is to run this against a couple of ppl on our squad that don't really flow and get lazy when cutting evidence, especially before state tournaments. I want to freak them out and scare them straight while having a little fun in the process. My idea for the performance would be that I would either create large cards in big text that would say what the card tags and authors are, or learn sign language or something in order to show how our team is making debate accessible to everyone. Feedback?
  20. Im sure this has been asked before- bur does anyone have anything on the western savior k? Like a structure or author?
  21. Does anyone have any good impact cards/cites to get good defense for this? Are there any "top cards" like how Bostrom is for framing, etc.
  22. I was wondering what the best argument is when running a critical aff and someone runs a da and says extinction trumps morals. What should I say?
  23. I recently heard about the Aryan (Arian?) brotherhood k. I was wondering how you can run it and if i could have some cards on it .
