    Lee's Summit

    Edited, my apologies.
  10. NFL districts for HOA start on Thursday, March 5th (CX only) and run to Saturday, Marth 7th. It's still two weeks away; however, I know that a lot of the district isn't going out next weekend and instead are planning on prepping, so now would be a good time for the thread and for a representative to post what teams their school is sending. TRUMAN will be sending: Plott/Greenberg Brandi Berner/Heitz Bailie Berner/Jones Ruddy/Mill Additionally, if anyone is interested in judging and hasn't been contacted or doesn't know who to contact, I know that Chris Adams from Truman is the district chair, I'm not sure who the judges chair is; however, she could point you in that direction.

    Lee's Summit

As Brad noted, they skipped the 5th round which would have included hidden quarters in order to catch up on time. However, they did still place the top 8 teams, and did so based off of what seed they would have been in quarters had the round been able to occur. 8th- Can't remember..anyone know? 7th- THS A (Brandi Berner/Heitz) 6th- PHS A (Schmitz/Werner) 5th- Fort O. A (Gillette/Belmore) Semi-Finals: Neosha A (?/?) def. Raytown South A (?/?) on a 2-1 BSS A (Gilmore/Hobbs) def. Neosho C (?/?) on a 3-0 Finals: Neosha A def. BSS (Gilmore/Hobbs) on a 3-0

  14. lol. I still feel kind of bad that she had to go mav
  15. I think Jazz's arguments on the thread shed some light on particular issues being discussed, for several reasons. (No, it's not because I'm her debate partner and I have to support her) First off, it's my belief that most of you aren't understanding her example of racism being included as well. As she mentioned above, she has personal experience. Like you all, she thought it was okay to create a "change" at a particular tournament. Now granted, the change that she advocated didn't occur in a debate round, it was directly after, and I can assure you that had we hit the individuals in a round, it would have occured in round. We understand that racism and sexism are two seperate issues, however, the movement for change is similar in both of these incidents. She proceeded to act on her urge to create change at the tournament, and as she stated, got into serious trouble for doing so. Was it because she was wrong? were the other individuals wrong? No. It was because it wasn't the time nor the place to address the issues, even though they began at a previous tournament. I guess I'm still a little confused on what you guys are advocating the change be or what you want to see done. I don't think you're supporting the movement like you're contending in the round if you only decide to run the affirmative against certain teams in certain rounds. For example, not running it at all in prelims to assure that you have a slot in quarters then running it isn't supporting the movement. If you really wanted to advocate the change and weren't worried about losing and winning, then why not read it every round? (I'm not meaning to sound disrespectful or whatev, maybe you did read it every roundand won on it and I'm just wrong idk..) Also, I agree with DPlott most when he asks why it has to be exclusive to CX debate? I'm sure this occurs in other debates like PF and LD, so even if you created a successful change in this form of debate, it would still occur in the debate community in the other forms of debate. It's not that Jasmine, Matt, Daniel, or myself don't "respect" their arguments, we do. And if we hit them this weekend, we will debate it. But, we can still chose to disagree and express those in this form.
  16. Well said, I vote for DPlott. I love you kid.
  17. This weekend. Who is going? Truman is sending DPlott/Greenberg and Berner/Heitz

I totally called you guys breaking that, btw. you were talking about it at conference, and I never put it past you two to break it. lol. I'm sure you won't again though lol. Bailie mentioned to me that she was worried they might have lost because the judge was shaking his head the whole time on the advantages. Too bad you guys didn't break that in our sems round, that would have made it even MORE fun. lol. what's this fish's name? coco chrisp again?

um, yeah, you were kicked out..Nathan and I totally kicked your and jasmine's ass!! We rocked it. No, the new activity is dolly races with your partner or we can switch up like we did at conference. lol. All you do is race the other teams on the dolly, like pushing your partner. I know that dplott and greenberg and bailie and jami would probably like to join too and then you guys and us. it's bound to be fun, just as long as noone gets hurt or we don't get into trouble. It may seem lame to outsiders, but we gotta do what we gotta do to keep ourselves occupied at lame tournaments. lol.

haha, I'm not specifically talking about the tournament but more about the stories out of round and all the fun that we will have. You know you are way excited. Jasmine and I have a new idea for an activity other than tossing skittles into eachother's mouth. It's definately more fun. I don't know what you are talking about...who is that? Then again, idk if I want to know. Nathan already warned me to not be shocked at what you guys will read if we hit you. you crazy, crazy boys. are you all staying overnight?

haha, oh boy, I have a feeling this is going to be one fun tournament. I have a feeling there will be numerous stories that develop. We're sending our normal four teams, but just in case you forgot, DPlott/Greenberg, us, my sister and jami, and two novice will be coming. P.S. Word on the street is that coco crisp died?!?!?! WHAT?! Oh my. I'm incredibly sorry!
