  1. I sent you an email. Please let me know any questions. Thanks.
  2. Thank you very much, Nathan. Appreciate your knowledgable opinion. Do you know how I can find a private tutor if I want to hire one. Our school has no debate class. Old kids told them some format. They do research and write the papers. I think that a private tutor may be able to guide him and save him some times. Thanks again.
  3. This coach was not the judge when my son competed with his student. He was the judge for the previous round. "judges are still free to share competitive advice & intelligence with either competitor.", that is my son was told. For me, it's no problem if the coach prepares his students well before the tournament, but it's unfair after he heard the debate then teaches his student how to reply. Anyway, my son doesn't mind. Now he starts to write slightly different versions for different rounds. It's really time consuming. Nathan, thank you very much for explaining.
  4. This coach judged my son and another school's kid in a round. Then he knew my son's points and told his student how to reply. So his student won the round when my son competed with him since my son probably one or two points but this kid responsed all. "Evidence is very much open I believe in varsity.", that's what my son told me. So I don't understand what they are competing for. Kids knew all the evidence. They all well prepared. They all knew what they need to say and how to response. Then they compete together. Won or lost, decided by judges? Too subjective. I can't get it. But my son loves it. He said it's fun. He spent a lot of time on it. That's why I am struggling whether I should try my best to support him. Thank for reply.
  5. Thank you very much, Brain and Nathan. Sounds like camp is a better choice. But my son is also good at math. Probably he can get in a pretty prestigious math camp. So I am wondering whether I should find a private coach instead of going to a camp. Personally, I have no idea about LD debate, should say any debate. I don't know what the debaters are competing for. What they will learn after several years' harding working. And also I think the judge is very subjective. It's unfair game. For example, once one parent judge said that he just didn't like my son's case. So my son lost. Another day, he told me that one judge is another school's coach. So he gave my son's arguements to his student before my son compete with his student. So my son lost. I asked "isn't it fair?". He said it is legal. It's more often when in Varsity. I feel it is strange. I know my son loves debate, but honestly I am not that supportive so far. Thank you very much for the infomation. I appreciate your inputs.
  6. Private tutor vs. Summer Camp, which one do you think more helpful? Thank you very much !
  7. We are in Northeast. Please recommend LD debate summer camp for a rising sophmore.
  8. Check the e-mail. I have sent the receipt to you. Thanks.
