  1. I'm about to post the update, but I had one feature request that I wanted to see if anyone else wanted. Someone requested the ability to change the font attributes for card, cite, pocket, etc. I know Verbatim has that option, but does anyone actually change the defaults? I kind of think it's a good idea if everyone uses the same standard fonts...
  2. Just added the ability to choose the current speech doc too.
  3. Thanks to everyone who has been trying it out. I haven't heard any bug reports yet (which could either be good or bad...). There's a couple of improvements that I'm working on, but I'd like to wait to post an update until early August (Google doesn't like developers updating their add-ons constantly). Here are things I'm adding/fixing: The auto-sidebar doesn't work the first time a document opens (but works every other time that document is opened after the sidebar is shown). This is fixed in the next version assuming you do the optional javascript injection part of the installation. I've added document stats And what I think is more important, I've added the ability to set an insertion point in a speech doc. Currently, all data sent to a speech goes to the end. In the new version, data will go to the end unless you set an insertion point in the speech doc. In adding this, I also got rid of the weird ability to send data from a speech doc to the same speech doc... That's it so far - let me know if there is anything else you would like to see / fix!
  4. Hi all. I've been working on a project to bring debate functions to Chrome. I think I finally have something that is worth sharing. It's by no means perfect (or anywhere better than Verbatim/Word), but I think it could work well for Novices or teams that can't afford Word. If you are interested in trying it out, here is the website for my project: http://url.d219.org/debate-template The instructions page has step-by-step directions, as well as a video that walks you through the process. I'd appreciate any feedback / comments. Thanks, Matt Fahrenbacher Niles West High School
  5. Make sure you have the latest java runtime environment installed http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html Then you should be able to just double click the jar file to run it.
  6. Sure! I made a program for last year - here's the update version for 2015. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxxolsFkwnDqOEgxU3E2bWpBc28/view?usp=sharing Hope this helps - let me know if you have any problems.
  7. I think he wants to see good SSD Good cards that a typical 1NC would read so he can prepare his 2AC to respond to those arguments.
  8. Could you provide some more information about your set up? For example: - what version of Mac OS X are you running? - when you go into the System Preferences, do you have a Java icon at the bottom? If not, try following these directions for installing Java and try running the jar file again.
  9. Just updated the Open Ev Downloader so you can choose between downloading to folders or not (there is a checkbox). I also fixed a bug (I believe) that was causing all files to redownload each time you run the program (accidentally introduced in the last version because I used to only scan the evidence folder for already downloaded, not subfolders). Same link, new program: https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing
  10. WHOOPS! That was the wrong file. I just uploaded the fixed one. Open Evidence Downloader with Folders (same link as above, just updated file): https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing
  11. Ask and you shall received! Open Evidence Downloader, now auto separating files into folders: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxxolsFkwnDqOFZjSXgySVd4Mjg/edit?usp=sharing If you already downloaded all the files, it will end up redownloading the files again (sorry).
  12. On a related not, someone had requested a version of the program that also works for Open Case List. I made two programs, one for High School and one for College. You have to select the school that you want to download evidence / cites from. I'm trying to minimize the number of times I read information from the website through cache files. The programs should remember which schools you had selected before. Let me know of any bugs you encounter (I'm sure they exist). High School Version: https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing College Version: https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing
  13. Hi I all. I made a little program that I thought the community might enjoy (it doesn't do anything bad, promise!). It connects to the Open Evidence project and downloads all the files for 2014. Here's how it works: It makes a folder called "evidence" wherever you run the program from The program connects to the Open Evidence website and extracts all the urls to files (when doing so, you'll see it creates a file called "cache". This is so running the program multiple times in a row will not result in multiple connections to the Open Evidence website. This saves them some bandwidth, which I'm sure they appreciate. The cache file is invalidated every 15 minutes... you can delete it if you are really impatient) It then checks to see if any of the files listed on the website are not already downloaded to the evidence folder - those missing files are downloaded. And that's it! Let me know if you have any issues using it.
  14. I'm trying to collect together all the different videos that were recorded at camps this year, but it seems like very few have been posted online in easily accessible places. I don't see any posted for GDI, only half the ENDI videos, and none for GDS. I've gotten the MGW ones (some with questionable sound quality), but that's left me with a rather short list of videos: Topic Lecture (ENDI) - James Herndon (MGW) - Scott Herndon (MGW) - Scott Herndon (MGW) - Geoff Smith and Toby Whisenhunt (MGW) - Geoff Smith and Toby Whisenhunt Aff Ground (ENDI) - Megan Cambre (MGW) - Bryan Gaston (MGW) - ??? Neg Ground on the Topic (ENDI) – Maggie Berthiaume (MGW) - Sarah SpringKritiks (ENDI) – John Turner Keynesian Economics (ENDI) – Matthew Pesce Impact Calculus (ENDI) – Matthew Pesce (MGW) - Dr. Tracy McFarlandOil and Tran Theory at MGW Theory Part , , , Group #2: Part , , , Group #3: Part , , (MGW) - Brian Kersch (MGW) - Colin QuinnHow to Debate Part , , , , , , , (MGW) (MGW) - ??? 15. I have a debater that wants to go to summer school this summer and go to debate camp. The problem is that summer school goes all the way to July 27th, and the latest camps I can find start the week before. Does anyone know of any camps that run only in August? 3 weeks would be prefered, but 2 weeks would work as well. Thanks!
