  1. Hey, Chaos. Curious what you think about opportunity costs of these actions. Taking random actions in a situation where you are acting based on the chance that those actions might somehow make things better naturally forecloses your opportunity to take actions that could be infinitely more valuable action. So why take RANDOM action if we don't KNOW that it will make things better?
  2. someone's running space based solar next year?
  3. I actually got to watch it. They did read the Ranciere aff, St. Marks went for a variety of case arguments and a civil war DA.

  8. My impression is that there is more literature on the bad shit that would happen if we withdrew from most countries than positive effects, which leaves affirmatives to say 'presence bad' rather than 'withdrawal good'.

    Thursday File

Before everyone says, "This should be in the 'Thursday Files' subsection!", nobody had posted in that subsection for a long time, so I figured I wouldn't get much response. Is there a Thursday file coming out this week in light of USC/Whitman?
  11. This only matters if you can't make decisions that affect your life... you don't have to know the answer to political issues, especially at your age Rothenbaum
  12. I'm gone until Sunday with no internet - terribly sorry, but this debate will be on pause for a while...
  13. 1600, but you need to wait for the 1NR - i have debate practice most of today - so that won't be for a day or two - sorry

  15. I'm unclear as to how perm do both can function on all three counterplans. I want the text of the perm. For instance, if you had a courts aff and i ran an XO CP, the perm text could be: The Supreme Court of the United States and the President should...
  16. 1. Why is your framework argument a reason to vote affirmative? 2. What is wrong with our representations? 3. If none of your evidence on your biopower advantage is talking about drones, how can you access the Foucault impact if you do not oppose biopower? 4. You give the example of the atomic bomb; how will drones lead to atrocities like those in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? 5. Does the 1AC have a nuclear war impact? 6. Do our representations increase nuclear wars waged on Indigenous peoples? 7. What’s the impact to your Bennett argument? 8. Your Proulx card is talking about US-Israel relations, how is it responsive to the CMR DA? 9. Why are representations a reason to reject the counterplan? 10. Why is the PIC a state of exception? 11. List all voting issues, please. 12. Write out the text to all your perms, please.
  17. Sure, but I reserve the right to kick out of any arguments though i will answer any disco/reps args you put on those flows
  18. Both conditional, as far as i know. Can you rephrase the first question and make it more specific?
  19. Given the millions of tiny PICs the neg can find against your aff, your best answer to generic PICs is 1) Doesn't Solve - you need at least one card saying your whole aff is key 2) Impact Turn the Net Benefit - let's face it, there's only so many terminal impacts in debate - you can be ready for most of them, and impact defense and offense checks wildly unpredictable PICs Before the round, you really need to think about your plan text. "Text: The USFG should completely, immediately, and unconditionally withdraw from Iraq" You're asking for it. if the plan text reads: "Text: The USFG should substantially reduce military presence in Iraq" then you can make the argument that you don't remove IED Defusers, or whatever they PIC out of. The dilemna is whether you want to defend against PICs and have stronger solvency (total withdrawal) or have less solvency and make PICs less competitive (substantial reduction). Also, "PICs bad" theory arguments can't hurt Hope that was helpful. This is ironic, I just lost my bid round to a "Tiny PIC"
