You don't need a degree. I'm going to college for art to really push my skills as an artist though so I can become a talented tattoo artist. I also plan on doing several other forms of art on the side. I do: And that is really cool Snorlax- You should post pictures when you get it done!

Wow, after re-reading I did come off a little defensive. I really didn't mean to be! My mind is probably going a little too fast right now. That's really cool though what are you thinking about getting? Oh, and I don't plan on doing anything outside of the realm of art. I promised myself a long time about I would never work a dry 9-5 job. The way I see it is I will have no reason to be beautiful when I am 70. I won't be trying to impress anyone at that age, and I sure as hell wont be attractive with or without the tattoos. So I should live now, in my youth, and decorate while I have the chance. If anything my tattoos will be there to remind me of the happiness I experienced when I was young and beautiful.

LOL this is kind of what I was talking about when I said "when most people think of tattoos" and the misunderstood part. A tattoo is ART. And I am an artist. The human skin is the most beautiful and meaningful canvas, and I will be 90 years old and still proudly showing off my saggy tattoos. But seriously, it is a very respectable industry to work in. I'm sure you've heard of Kat Von D, but if you ever get the chance watch LA ink. Some people criticize the show for making the industry more "mainstream" but I believe it also gives people insight on a respectable parlor with extremely talented artists. P.s. did you know you have a higher chance of getting HIV from your dentist than in a tattoo parlor? Edit: Oh and I've known that this is something I want to do for about two years. My father bought me a set of tattoo machines for christmas, not because he's crazy, but because he knows I am responsible enough to ONLY use them for practice on fake skin. Which I have. Just with that though I couldn't be more excited to start an apprenticeship.

So probably one of the most popular and misunderstood medias of art (in my opinion) is that of flesh and ink. Tattoo’s are by far my favorite form of art, and is actually a field I plan on pursuing after college. The interesting thing about the tattooing industry is how much it has changed in the past decade or so. The original tattoo style is referred to as “Old School” defined by bold outlines and simple designs. Usually these tattoos are colored in by flat colors, perhaps one or two shades. These designs are what come to mind for most people when they think of tattoos; the classic heart with the “mom” banner or thorned roses. Another prominent form of Old School work is “Sailor Jerry” seen here: New School, on the other hand, is a recently developed form of tattooing. It is defined with incredibly bright colors and intricate designs. I absolutely love new school work. Most new school tattoos are very large, sometimes taking up entire areas of the body. A lot of newer work also includes some neat techniques with negative space (leaving some parts uncolored), to effectively mix the tattoo design into the skin. Here are some examples: Sorry went a little crazy with the pictures. But this brings me to my point. I’m thinking about saving up some money and going somewhere really nice to get half sleeves. I want something New School, something really bright, maybe a bit feminine, but bad ass at the same time. Probably mostly purple with some pink and gold. Any suggestions of what should actually be in the tattoo? P.s. if you want to see some REALLY amazing tattoos, check out Tim Kern. Not for the faint of heart. http://www.myspace.com/ymonster
  11. Thats what they all say. Hehe. I would give you something sweet in return, but I'm not sharing.
  12. ....ahahah. I walked into that one. You are right, I'm going to go get a shake.
  13. Rofl. Subject change: I can't decide if I want to go get a shake or not. I'm craving something sweet really bad... but is it worth the effort?
  14. Okay... If I must We keep it really classy here in Gr.
