  1. All three judges were white. Rubaie, Berthiaume, Scott Phillips*
  2. 2NR hasn't started yet.
  3. I (Neil Sethi of Alpharetta High) will be attending Emory University in the fall. I think Megan Cambre of Hooch is also going to Emory, bee tee dubs.
  4. Look, I know this thread is asking who the best teams here are but no one needs to be bashing other teams that aren't as good. It's easy to say which teams are good without talking crap about which teams, in the opinion of some, aren't as good.
  5. Yeah, I think we get decisions at the end of the week.
  6. bump Is no team list out yet?
  7. I know it's kind of early, but who's going?
  8. Is Seth Gannon confirmed to be doing 7 Week Seniors still? He's listed at Northwestern Sophomore 4-Week too...
  9. Very good point...what kind of lit am I looking for on this? Additionally, I agree- i don't see Cap Good lit supporting poverty too.
  10. All this is insightful on how to beat a poverty advantage next year...but is there really absolutely NO literature on poverty having any benefits to society/the world? Granted, it may be an unsound argument from a moral standpoint, but what about the fact that capitalism basically depends on poverty? Is there any literature out there that makes this point?
  11. Lolz I was aware, but I decided to ignore it...
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of a turn to a poverty advantage for the neg, not something to go for by itself but good offense anyway. I've read an article already that had a lot of good potential cards ("the Positive Functions of Poverty" by Herbert J Gans) but can't really find anything else...can anyone still help? I'm not really focusing on specifically deont or util impacts.

    Poverty Good

Does anyone know any good authors, books, or sources for such arguments?
  14. If we had a case that allowed people in poverty access to a tax credit, how would we prove that the said tax credit is topical as a social service?
