    Congrats to all!!!
  2. agreed. and by running a k of t that is tailored to your aff it often makes your k seem more legit because it jives with the framework you created coming out of the 1ac. for example. reading penelope or tickner to help gain offense in a t arg when reading a fem aff is a good way to help use some of the built in offense in your 1ac on other flows. my one piece of advice for reading a k of t is often they work best if youre willing to go all in on the k of t rather than trying to answer the t flow traditionally and with a k--often you end up biting your own arguments if you try and straddle the fence. you are prob. better off making your we meets and then making your ci more unconventionally and probably more like a counter framework interp... then formatting your standards as to why your form of debate is preferable to a world of traditional topicality.

  9. sorry this is so late. but here is the other aff outline. pm or email me if you have any questions. THE UNITED STATES FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD REPEAL THE ANTI-PROSTITUTION PLEDGE AND SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE ITS PUBLIC HEALTH ASSISTANCE TO ALL PERSONS PREVIOUSLY DENIED THAT ASSISTANCE IN AFRICAN COUNTRIES SOUTH OF THE SAHARA. WE’LL CLARIFY IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE TOPIC, WE MUST FIRST EXAMINE THE AUSPICES UNDER WHICH PROBLEMS ARE EVALUATED. THIS DECONSTRUCTIVE FRAME WORK REVEALS THAT CURRENT VIEWS ARE CREATED UNDER A PATRIARCHIAL STRUCTURE. ONCE WE BEGIN TO DISSCUSS THE FLAWS WITH THIS PERSPECTIVE CAN WE OPEN OURSELVES UP TO AN OPEN DISCUSSION ABOUT THESE FALWS. BEFORE THIS OCCURS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A SAPCE WHERE IDEAS LIKE SEXUALITY AND GENDER CAN EVER BE FULLY ACCEPTED SINCE THEY WILL REMAINED VIEWED AS DIFFERENT AND INFERIOR UNTIL OUR LENSE OF VIEW IS CHANGED. BY DISCUSSING THESE FLAWS WE CAN CREATE A SPACE WHERE A MULTIPLICITY OF SEXUAL IDENTITIES ARE AVAILABLE, NO SEXUALITY OR IDEOLOGY BECOMES PRIVILEDGED AS THE NORM, AND FOR ONCE, INDIVIDUALS ARE ALLOWED TO THINK DIFFERENCE. SUTHERLAND 2004 [KATE, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, OSGOODE HALL LAW SCHOOL, “WORK, SEX, AND SEX-WORK: COMPETING FEMINIST DISCOURSES ON THE INTERNATIONAL SEX TRADE,”] WHEN POLICIES LIKE ANTI-PROSTITUTION PLEDGE ARE ENACTED, A STANDARDIZED VIEW OF SEXUALITY OCCURS THAT NOT ONLY DE-POLITICIZES SOCIAL MOVEMENTS BUT ALSO DENIES THE COMPLEXITY, FLUIDITY, AND VARIABILITY OF SEXUAL RELATIONS IN REAL PEOPLE’S LIVES. THIS POLICY IS ABLE TO PERPETUATE THE CURRENT IDEA OF WHAT A PROSTITUTE IS WITHOUT EVER QUESTIONING THE SYSTEM. THROUGH OUT DISCUSSION OF THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS TYPE OF POLICY, OUR DECONSTRUCTION CAN SPILL OVER SO THAT NOT JUST IS THE PLEDGE THAT IS DECONSTRUCTED, BUT THE ATTITUDES PERPETUATED BY IT CAN BE DECONSTRUCTED AS WELL. Petchesky, 2004. [Rosalind, Professor of Political Science and Women's Studies
Hunter College and the Graduate Center. “Introduction to: Sexual Rights Policies across Countries and Cultures: Conceptual Frameworks and Minefields,” THE PLEDGE HAS PERPETUATED THE IDEA THAT ‘HELPING’ CAN ONLY BE POSSIBLE IN A WORLD OF IDENTIFICATION. FIRST GOVERNMENTS IDENTIFY THEIR SUBJECTS, SUCH AS PROSTITUTES, AND THEN ESTABLISH OF A PROFESSION, PROSTITUTION, THAT RELIES ON THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE SUBJECT. THIS PROCESS HAS PREVENTED INDIVIDUALS FROM EVER TAKING BACK THEIR OWN AGENCY FROM THE STATE BY EXPRESSING THEIR SEXUALITY AND SEXUAL ACTIVITIES. THE UNITED STATES HAS BEEN ABLE TO CLAIM THAT THEY ARE “SAVING” THE SEX WORKER THROUGH THE ANTI-PROSTITUTION PLEDGE, BY PERSUADING THEM TO TAKE UP NEW, APPROPRIATE, OCCUPATIONS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE PUBLIC HEALTH ASSISTANCE. THIS TYPE OF POLICY IS SIMPLY A WAY FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PROLIFERATE ITS FORMATION OF IDENTITIES THOUGH PROJECTS OF SAVING AND RE-EDUCATING THAT PREVENT INDIVIDUALS FROM EVER REGAINING THEIR AGENCY. Augustin 2005 [Laura, Doctor of Sociology and Cultural Studies and Master of International Education, rhizomes.10, Spring, 2005, Helping Women Who Sell Sex: The Construction of Benevolent Identities] THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A GREATER NEED FOR CRITICAL INTERROGATIONS OF OUR ATTITUDES TOWARDS SEX THAN NOW – SEX PANICS ARE NOT SIMPLY ISOLATED INSTANCES OF VIOLENCE, BUT ARE THE IDEOLOGICAL CHANNEL THROUGH WHICH SOCIAL VIOLENCE IS EXPRESSED AND JUSTIFIED- IN A MILITARIST WORLD WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS, PANICS OVER SEXUALITY CAN CREATE UNTHINKABLE DESTRUCTION Rubin 1993, [Gayle S. Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, “Thinking Sex: Notes for a Radical Theory of the Politics of Sexuality,” The Lesbian and Gay Studies reader, Eds. Abelove, Barale, & Halperin, p. 3-9] WE MUST EXPOSE THE FLAWS WITHIN THE CURRENT DEPICTIONS OF REALITY IN ORDER TO EXPOSE THE BIASED DEPICTION OF REALITY THAT IS THE STATUS QUO. ANY ACTION BASED UPON A FLAWED MAP OF REALITY WILL REPLICATE THE HARMS; THEREFORE, WE MUST INVESTIGATE HOW REALITY IS CONSTITUTED CAN WE DEVELOP A SOUND BASIS FOR ACTION Peterson and Runyan, professor of political science at the University of Arizona and professor of women’s studies at Wright State University, 1999 (V. Spike and Anne, Global Gender Issues, 2” edition, p. 1-3) EXPOSING THE FLAWS WITHIN THESE STRUCTURES ALLOWS EACH OF US TO LEARN ABOUT POLICIES RATHER THAN SIMPLY ENACTING THEM. THIS TYPE OF APPROACH IS KEY TO ALLOW EACH OF US TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE IMPLICATIONS OF WHAT WE DO. INSTEAD OF FOCUSING THE DEBATE AROUND IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS AND ASKING THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT TO SOLVE THEM, WE SHOULD INSTEAD FOCUS IT AROUND EDUCATION AND TAKE DEBATE BACK TO ITS ROOTS. OUR DISCUSSION ALLOWS FOR INDIVIDUALS TO BE EDUCATED ABOUT HOW THE CURRENT SYSTEM FUNCTIONS, AND THE FLAWS WITHIN IT EXPOSING THEM TO SOCIETY. AT THE POINT THAT INDIVIDUALS REALIZE THIS NOT ONLY DOES IT PREVENT THEM FROM RECREATING THESE TYPES OF DISCRIMINATORY NORMS, BUT THEY ARE BETTER ABLE TO REALIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF AN OPEN SEXUALITY WHERE THE STATE IS UNABLE TO CONTINUE ITS REPRESSIVE DOMINATION. Peterson and Runyan, professor of political science at the University of Arizona and professor of women’s studies at Wright State University, 1999 (V. Spike and Anne, Global Gender Issues, 2’ edition, p. 14-15) [sorry the tags are so long]

  12. we cant find any current debaters but i can do some digging around and see if i can pull some strings and get a team of two ex-debaters to show.
  13. I'm going to disagree with Dillon here. Even if the "No solvency" arguments link back into the K, that still doesn't answer the question that Africa can't do the plan. If the aff can objectively win a solvency deficit, then aff impacts as turns to the alternative or counterplan are still just as effective. The point of running a CP is to have an impact without having to deal with the aff's impacts. If the CP can't solve, then it's just another boring impact debate, lol
