  1. The NDCA website is undergoing massive overhaul this weekend and will be down for this reconstruction efforts. This **INCLUDES** the intell wiki. Folks will need to plan ahead if they envision needing to grab argument cites/outlines or other services the website offers (such as curriculum materials). Ryan Ricard has graciously downloaded and archived our wiki. You can find it here: https://dl.getdropbox.com/u/210847/ndca-wiki.zip . We should be up and running with an INCREDIBLE website on Monday. We will still be at the same url - http://www.debatecoaches.org. Thanks to Mike Bietz, Bill Batterman, and Ryan Ricard for this make-over. Tara Tate President, NDCA

  3. For those of you that are still contemplating attending the NDCA Championships in Vegas on April 18-20, 2009, the time you have left to register is drawing near. We have been plugging the quality of our pools in multiple media blitzes the past few months. That pool continues to be as strong and continues to grow. We would like to plug the quality of our judging pool as well. Our judging pool will include a member of the 2009 NDT championship team from KU, both members of the 2009 Copeland Award team from Northwestern, the 2009 NDT's Top Speaker from UNT, several judges that appeared on late elim panels at the 2009 NDT, as well as many of the most preferred high school coaches in the country. You will have a hard time narrowing down your "1"s on your MPJ sheet. The NDCA has a lot of great things in store for you for this weekend - we spend every dollar that we bring in to the tournament on hired judging, great trophies, hospitality, etc. Peruse the threads from years past - the NDCA Championships is always a favorite! Please visit our tournament page at http://www.joyoftournaments.com. Please email me at ttate@glenbrook.k12.il.us if you have have any last minute questions. 15. I hope everyone had a good, safe weekend. The NDCA is proud to announce a centralized case list for intell for high school debate. Our hopes are that individuals, including coaches, students, and tournament directors, will find ease in having a unified, centralized location to get case information. A huge thanks to Bill Batterman who is overseeing this project for the NDCA as well as Brandon Sheats and Mike Bietz, who are providing web/technical assistance. You can find this caselist at http://wiki.debatecoaches.org. For the next forty-eight hours, we ask that you honor a policy of enjoying the website, but not posting. We are trying to work out some kinks to make it user-friendly to post, but we did not want to withhold information from Grapevine. I would hope that by mid-week, individuals will be able to opt-in and post. If you have intell from any tournaments (either your own team or individuals that you have debated), please email me at ttate@glenbrook.k12.il.us or Bill at billbatterman@gmail.com. Please include the school name and last names of debaters. This caselist will be the site where caselists from Greenhill, St. Mark's and The 2008 Glenbrooks will be posted. If there are other tournament directors that would like to utilize this site, please let me know and we are happy to coordinate. Individuals will also be able to opt-in to post information. As always, please let me or an NDCA Board member know of any concerns or questions you may have. As always, this should also serve as a reminder to get your NDCA memberships renewed (they expire on September 30 if you have an annual membership) or become a first-time member. We view ourselves as "foot soldiers" to try to meet community needs - we can't survive as an organization without a healthy membership base! Tara Tate President, NDCA

  21. Hi everyone - The NDCA caselist could literally be up as early as a few hours. We have already loaded some information from Grapevine and we are test running it now. We will have folks at the Greenhill RR uploading information as well as the Greenhill caselist will be posted on this website...it will also be the location of the St. Mark's and Glenbrooks tournaments caselists as well. Contrary to above opinion, we willl have coverage at Wake as well. What will be great about this wiki is that individuals can self-report. Any person can upload their information or information about the teams that they have debated. We encourage tournaments who do case lists to utilize this website to post their caselists here as well. The *kinks* we are working on now is to make it super user-friendly from this stand-point. A huge thanks to Bill Batterman who is leading the charge for us on this! Tara Tate NDCA
  22. I know folks are finishing up their calendars and budget projections for the 2008-2009 school year. I want to urge everyone to consider attending the 2009 NDCA Championships this year. Please read this to see the cost-cutting measures we have taken for you! Assuming you can negotiate a reasonable way to get to Las Vegas, we have worked very hard to make this tournament affordable. The quick run-down: It will be in Las Vegas, NV on April 18-20. It is being hosted by the UNLV debate team, the Clark County school district, and Ted Belch. Rounds will be housed on the campus of UNLV. We will offer policy, LD, and Public Forum divisions. We will be introducing the Dukes & Bailey Cup this year...similar to the Baker Cup we give in policy, this award will recognize season-long excellence for LD. It will be awarded to the LD debater with the highest points achieved on the NDCA application process. Now, how is this affordable for you? 1 - We have secured a tournament hotel for $65.00 a night. Free wireless. 2 - No ground transportation costs. The hotel will be providing shuttles to/from McCarran Airport and to/from UNLV for us....for free. 3 - We keep our entry fees very low. We don't make a dime on this tournament. We cover our costs. You will find the entry fees to be lower than any "national circuit" tournament you attend. The NDCA Board has worked very hard to provide a tournament that meets the needs of the community. Every year, we hear students and coaches state that we are their favorite tournament. We have always had very hospitable hosts, a hard-working tab room, a great judge pool, an *extremely* competitive field, and a tournament schedule that is healthy. We have already had a swarm of folks inquire about the tournament for this year and have committed to attending that have not in previous years. As always, ANY suggestions on ways that we can continue to improve this tournament should be sent on to an NDCA Board member. Tara Tate President, NDCA Director of Debate, GBS
