  1. As always, I can expect you guys to keep my head cool by pointing out the obvious of what's already happening and then some pertinent info.
  2. I'm so tired of hearing that, the Sikhs absorbed Afghanistan into their empire and kept it till the British took India. So, if a nation/power plans a coherent strategy which doesn't include invading another larger neighboring nation, then the odds of victory should significantly improve.
  3. Yea sure, that's why Europe is trying so hard to diversify away from Russian natural gas and oil
  4. Damn, this and evolution, fucking Kansas!
  5. Could the bloated FDA bureaucracy be expected to handle this?
  6. This and Watchmen, do you read comic books? I never thought I'd find someone else on this site who does
  7. Don't worry, Christian Bale has stated he wouldn't star in the next movie if there were any sidekicks.
  8. I saw the first one when it came out and watched most of the episodes, this movie is obviously to make more money.
  9. Right on, I agree wholeheartedly. Much of the waste that's being spoken about is the case of desert cities, so disincentivating them should be something that needs to be done.
  10. Isn't this privatization idea by the Economist similar to the attempts by water companies to privatize water use in South America? From what I remember, that didn't go over very well.
  11. Oh gods, what the heck, Bush stated the same crap about having the budget balanced after the 2001 recession. Christ, we give so much crap to other countries on their budget deficits and overall debt, so how long before they come knocking on our doors?
  12. Holy sh#$! I did not see that, my mistake! I'd like to switch those around, the woman changing the lyrics pales in comparison to what the Swiss did.
  13. That's just a dick move by the Swiss, it pales in comparison to what this woman did. And what she did is really nothing to make such a big deal about.
  14. Guys and gals, am I being too optimistic to think the following: That some day in the future, the majority of humans will realize they really don't need those big screen tvs, SUVs, or even cars (public transportation), the newest high-tech toys, more and more expensive healthcare (because we'll get better at working out and eating healthier), more and more consumption to show off wealth, even bigger houses, and more and more. It seems to me that those are such simple solutions to what we call "complex" problems. I would blatantly curse right now, but this forum isn't the ideal for that.
  15. Sigh, at least if the world comes to Armageddon, I'll know who it was so I can lobby God to send them on a one-way ticket to hell.
  16. I had read the article, but mistook your statement. I apologize for that
  17. Another history repeat and one I think we'll see over and over again: "Our superpower technologically advanced forces can crush any backwards rebel force anywhere in the world" SIGH
  18. "Good track record"? Excuse me, but I'm quite sure that Russia and China would fail that test. The Security Council is all about who has the biggest guns and power, so you are right on regional powers. I don't think there is a point to the UN, other than a location where multiple dictators can give their asinine speeches regarding America's "imperialistic" ambitions. I'll admit though, the UN has had some success, but that that success has been tremendously undermined by their outright corruption and ineptitude to come to a consensus on anything except stating they've come to a consensus. Here's some info on the country you look up to so much http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?story_id=11333160 http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?story_id=10809296 http://www.economist.com/displayStory.cfm?story_id=11412832
  19. yes, but if he's dead, then it doesn't matter.
  20. Uh, news flash buddy, but the United Nations is a failed organization. The most the Security Council does is, oh wait, take action long after the tragedy has occurred. Regarding South Africa, I couldn't agree more. They've gotten so full of themselves, priding around their so called democracy. But if you actually take a detailed look at them, you'll see they're still a racist (against Whites and foreigners primarily), corrupt, and backwards nation, especially when it comes to health care. I don't use the word backwards as saying they're uncivilized, but some of their policies, like the health minister who said AIDS could be cured through simple herbal remedies, strike me as unbelievably tragic and medieval.
  21. How do you know this? Is it from analyzing the previews of the next series of episodes?
  22. It's a dumb idea because people need to realize that it is their own fault for being unable to adapt to the higher prices. This country is primed for a major anal fucking due to our massive inefficiencies regarding resource usage. We've had ample opportunity, meaning boom years, to at least invest something in renewables and increase petroleum efficiency, but no, so many damn douchenozzles just had to have that SUV, HUMMER H2, or a massive Mini-van. God ain't got shit to do with supply and demand
  23. Dude, you totally copied those questions, I forget from where though...
  24. No no, that's not weird, just that it was said to be impossible earlier in the show between cylon models. Yea, so Tigh's been around longer than the Cylons developed the human models, I think. MAJOR SPOILER about the mid-season finale of season 4 So WTF?! I sort of saw it coming with Earth, but what the hell?! Damn it man, I waited the year gap b/w 3 and 4, and now I have to wait till 09?!
  25. SPOILERS Hey, if the 6 is pregnant, so what? Tigh is also a Cylon! But yea, it does bring up the whole farm thing. What's the big deal with Hera though? Chief and his dead wife produced a hybrid too, but is the reason no one cares is because no one knows he's a Cylon? I still can't understand how Tigh is a Cylon, I thought he'd been around for decades, so how does that work? I think that Earth is involved in some sort of mass experiment because so much revolves around it. They must have some sort of super tech because "someone" knows what's always going to happen! By that, I'm talking about the 6 who's always around in Baltar's imagination, she seems to know too much to just be a part of his unconsciousness. Anyone want to discuss?
