Obama has a stopgap measure to avoid it. it will be voted on in the next 7 days. Enough GOP Congressman may agree to it and it will pass. Sequester would kill economy, lay off 800,000, and destroy military readiness. Immigration reform: There are TWO plans out there. Obama just presented his plan. A bipartisan committee of Congress is drafting one as well. The GOP opposes Obama's plan, The Congressional bill is passable. Obama's plan will be presented if Congress' bill does not pass. There's a cool CP where the US repeals its plenary power over the tribes...ultimately giving them sovreignty over them selves. Most NA advantages stem from them having more freedom to govern themselves.

There's a Cars Aff that kritiks the idea of cars in general (hurts the poor, children, etc.) You can glean some args from that. The implication is racism and biopower. I'll email it to you, Wes

  10. Sorry, just got back to this thread. These files may be outdated, but the ideas can still be used. I think many plans i have seen so far this year are too vague: "Nanotech", "Treaty with x country", etc. My files talk about specific pieces of NASA equipment and satellites: The Nasa Aerospace Plane, Mission Planet Earth (lotsa environmental impax there), etc. I won't be able to get them until mid-October . They are at my parent's house. But I am still available to discuss some old ideas. There are huge environmental impax that I haven't seen a lot of, like Ozone Depletion. Data processing is a good plan . NASA satellites have gathered a lot of data that hasn't been reviewed or analyzed. Plan- analyze the data, avoid environment and Spending DAs . Mission Planet Earth is simply launching satellites to monitor changes in Earth's environment, like global temperature, ozone, ocean levels, etc. Space Junk was an Aff case- simply clean it up. (It's a little fx T, though). You can Google any of these ideas and find updated cards about them. Also, NASA chooses a few experimental missions (called "Technology Demonstration Missions") to demonstrate every few years. Take one of them and skip the experimental part. Fully utilize them. This year those three are: solar sails (use these instead of rocket fuel for secondary launches in space), atomic clocks (for deep space exploration- a space navigation system that is autonomous and needs very little direction from Earth.) , and optical communications systems (a faster way to transmit space data- that might not get processsed for many years, LOL). Anyway, I don't mean to ramble. I found some moral obligation cards for space exploration too . Were moral obligations written at camps too? PM me if you'd like more info . I am checking here more frequently now. Wes

  13. Ohhhh yeahhhhhhh Nanotech was in its early stages in the 1990-91 topic, but it's developed successfully now. The propulsion technique you want is called a solar sail. I am writing the Aff here in Chicago as we speak.
  14. That's why God gave us the Acrobat pdf converter. I can scan them and email them.
  15. Chicagoland debaaters: My name is Wes Fowler, a judge of the Chicago Debate League. Next year's topic is similar to the topic from my Senior year of high school. To celebrate, I am writing some arguments that may not be seen at debate camps: One Affirmative Case Two Disadvantages One Critique One Counterplan This will be informal and mostly online . We'll meet a few times at the Harold Washington Library. This is for experienced debaters only. Anyone who helps will get a copy of everything we write . This is not meant to substitute the Summer debate institute experience. The focus will be on research skills. PM me if you're interested. Wes
