    Oh No Not Again

What problems are you having? Navigating on mobile should be very similar to the full view. You can switch to the old lightweight theme while everything gets ironed out. --Sent from my iPhone

    Oh No Not Again

The styling is different, but the structure is still the same. All items and buttons should be in the same place. I think this styling is more readable and generally easier on the eyes. The other big benefit is mobile support. Instead of a separate and less functional mobile view, you can now view the full site appropriately rendered for your phone or tablet. If you miss the old theme (or old mobile theme), both are still available from the change theme menu at the bottom left.

    What

Unfortunately, this time it was simply incompetence by our hosting provider. We'll be moving to a new facility tonight.
  5. Policy debate, isn't hyperbole encouraged?

    What

Announcement posted here. This was the first major outage since I started managing the server, and I'll do what I can so it won't happen in the future.
  7. I apologize for the downtime. Our hosting provider experienced a DDoS attack that targeted their entire network and affected thousands of servers. Cross-X was caught in the cross-fire. For the time being, the server has been moved to a different network range that should be clear. I'll be investigated the best option to prevent and recover from this sort of attack in a more timely fashion. Click here to view the article
  8. I'm sorry about this- it's part of a larger issue between the editor and the forum software. I'm working with them to get everything resolved, hopefully within the week.
  9. This week’s file includes an update for the comprehensive immigration reform DA (along with the files from the past two weeks). The main focus of my work was a uniqueness sweep but some other noticeable updates and additions include: Impact turns (and neg a2: impact turns) – There are a number of benefits to having the ability to impact turn the politics DA on the aff. You might hit a CP that you didn’t predict and are lacking a good solvency deficit/offense, your aff might be on the wrong side of a link turn, etc – impact turning politics will get you back in the game. If you’re negative, this file covers negative responses to potential impact turns and help will prevent you from being caught off guard. Since the immigration DA will probably be alive for a big chunk of this next semester, this will be an excellent file to have even if you’re not debating this weekend. Impact update – includes a number of new/recent cards – specifically, a hot 1nc card that says the impact is quicker than any benefit from infrastructure investment. New internal link work – with the Senate pursuing their own vision for immigration reforms, the literature has increasingly been pointed towards “obama not key.” This file includes new cards that effectively respond to that. Aff updates – because we can’t always be negative UPDATED: Also includes the latest updates on Friday. http://www.cross-x.com/files/file/11067-thursday-file-2-7-13/ This week's author is Collin Roark. Yeah, there's a minor bug with the editor. I'll try to push the fix live sometime overnight.
  11. This morning Cross-X.com was moved to a new server and upgraded to the latest software. The new server should keep the site running smoothly well into the future. We are now located in Baltimore, home of BUDL and the Ravens. The new software includes a couple of new features: Best Answers: particularly helpful posts may now be marked as the "best" answer and featured within the thread. It should be easier to find the best information without wading through dozens of pages of a topic. This has been enabled in all help and argument oriented forums. Improved sharing: posts can be individually shared by clicking the small share icon in the upper right hand corner of each post. Direct people to the specific post you're referencing. I know a lot of mods will be happy about this: mobile moderation! Basic mod tasks can now be performed from the mobile skin. Click here to view the article
  12. Today, the NFHS announced the new policy debate topic for 2013-2014. Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic engagement toward Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela.
  13. MrMarantz nailed it, it's to prevent all-caps thread titles. I'll see if I can make an adjustment so things like KS and 1AC don't get decapitalized.
  14. From the NFHS: Latin America and Export Controls are the final choices for the 2013-14 national debate topic The National Federation of State High School Associations recently tabulated debate ballots from 30 states, the National Catholic Forensic League, National Debate Coaches Association and the National Forensic League. The returned ballots narrowed the five proposed topics to two for placement on the final ballot to select the 2013-14 national high school debate topic. The five topic areas were ranked 1-5 with the two topic areas receiv-ing the lowest totals – Infrastructure and Immigration– placed on the final ballot. On Janu-ary 10, 2013, the NFHS will announce the preferred topic area and resolution. In addition to the NFL, NCFL and NDCA, the following states returned ballots: Arizona Kansas Oklahoma Arkansas Michigan Oregon California Minnesota Pennsylvania Colorado Mississippi South Dakota Georgia Missouri Texas Hawaii Montana Utah Idaho Nevada Virginia Illinois New Hampshire Washington Indiana New York Wisconsin Iowa Ohio Wyoming Within each of the five topic areas appears one resolution. The resolutions within the two final topic areas are: LATIN AMERICA Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially in-crease its economic engagement toward Cuba, Mexico or Venezuela. EXPORT CONTROLS Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially strengthen its export controls on military and/or dual-use technology toward one or more of the following: China, India, Israel, Russia, Taiwan. The following chart summarizes the balloting on the topic areas and their respective resolutions. ** Areas ranked 1-2-3-4-5 with low combined total indicative of top ranking. ** National Policy Debate Topic Area Balloting: 97 Export Controls – Topic I 102 India – Topic 2 85 Latin America – Topic 3 98 Russia– Topic 4 113 Southeast Asia– Topic 5 Click here to view the article
  15. Today we are unveiling two features: a new links section and an expanded front page. The new links section highlights and promotes websites from around the debate community, including resources for students and coaches as well as information on high school and college debate programs. We will do our best to track down links across the web, but for this to succeed we need your help. Advocate for your team and submit your website. Help your fellow debaters and coaches by sharing publications. If your submission doesn't fit in one of the existing categories, just submit it anyway and a new category will be appropriately created. The new frontpage will allow us to expand the types of information we deliver. Articles will now include information about major tournaments, the topic selection process, and anything that might be relevant to policy debate. Additionally, moderators and admins may promote particularly insightful posts to the front page. Click here to view the article
  16. Sorry for the delay. 'My Content' and search should work now, and mods should have control of appropriate subforums.

    Reputation

Sorry everyone, a bug with the reputation system was introduced with a recent software upgrade. We're currently working with the software provider to fix the issue. The reputation tab in your profile should allow you to view rep that user has both given and received.
  18. At the top, click on your username, select Client Area, then navigate to Purchases on the left. Or: http://www.cross-x.com/index.php?app=nexus&module=clients&section=purchases
  19. Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its transportation infrastructure investment in the United States. For the full balloting breakdown: http://www.nfhs.org/content.aspx?id=6461
  20. Welcome to a new server and the latest software. Early this morning our host experienced some hardware issues with the server we were located on, so we took the opportunity to move to a substantially more powerful server. While I was moving everything over, I upgraded us to the latest software. Beyond the reworked design, this update has a number of new features including: New text editor with autosave Improved moderator control (Better reporting, new ModCP) Topic tagging and prefixes New mobile skin There are also many small improvements that hopefully make your experience a little smoother. This update also removed profile photos. Instead, your avatar displays on your member page.
  21. Appropriate bans made, thread restored.
  22. I think this is a great idea. Let's make it happen. Any volunteers? Once we run a successful round and work out the kinks, we can explore more rounds and potentially a tournament. The tech side should be no problem, but some preliminary investigating needs to be done. Audio quality is without a doubt the most important part of the experience, and we need to find a solution that handles that gracefully.
  23. Sems Little Rock Central d. Sioux Falls Lincoln on a 2-1 Millard South d. Washburn Rural on a 2-1 Finals Millard South d. Little Rock Central on a 3-2
