What does the Iraq aff say?

the story, at least for the one sdi 2 week is making, is that detention w/o charge of people in iraq jacks the legitamacy of the iraqi government and that we need to turn them over to them or else bad things will happen (que civil war, loss of sp, torture). I can't speak explicitly for all iraq cases though, this is just what SDI 2 week is putting out.

How is that topical??

well in my opinion its not, but curretly we're detaining people w/o charge in iraq and abusing them and the like, which undermines iraqi legitamacy, so we give the prisoners to the iraqis. yea i know there are massive authority problems here, but the lab leader picked the aff, we had no say in it. i'm not sure what the specific pt is, i could check though

Wait so you are cutting a racial profiling good aff? and what is the business corporations aff?

out

the racial profiling good aff is stoping "random searches" at airports, because random searches dont do shit and lead to ignorant guards racial profiling when they see arab-looking people and harrasing them, so instead of random searches we set up critera for searches that dont just have to do with race, but gender, race, age, sex, origin.

i dont wanna talk about the business corporations aff

what's DADT?

Don't Ask, Don't Tell. The military's policy on homosexuality.

And yes, it is topical, there are cards out there talking about people going through people's personal items to find evidence of suspected homosexuality.

That would make topical a plan banning searches of personal effects, but I don't see how it would make topical a plan banning DADT.

seriosly its topicality, not that big of a deal, as long as it has a decent cse for it being topical its fine, topicalities always going to be an issue so stop bickering over this and cluttering up this thread

note to the mod: Can you guys please clean this forum up, there are a lot of useless stuff in here like questions about certain cases and rants about the topicality of a quecase i just think it will be more beneficial if this thread is made exclusive for what camps are putting out, if you want you can make a thread for that even though most of that stuff is adressed in threads alreaqdy.

I'm not sure exactly what plan text is. It's probably vaguely topical if you ban DADT and unban gays in the military.

There's a thread on it somewhere in here.

1. That doesnt mean crap, you need to find evidence saying the US has the authority to do that. If you can tell me a certain bill or court case which said that the US can search the people's items to find evidence they are gay, I'll believe your topical. But this seems rather unlikely since DADT specifically says "Don't Ask", implying there is probably no authority to seach.

Just because a homophobe in the army is looking through his tent mates items in iraq doesn mean you can write an aff.

2. Wake Forest Policy Project's first aff was NAGPRA/Indian Graves.
