Worst argument: India DA

Best K: Afro-Pessimism

Best Policy Aff: Taiwan

Best K Aff: Daiyou Islands (I like topic specific the best, I feel like they truly have a place in the resolution, but I believe so do identity affs. I don't like anti-topical affs or critiques OF debate much though.)

Best excuse for losing: "POLITICS DIDN'T LINK, THEY DIDN'T READ A PLAN"

Best tournament for hanging out: UT
Best human being (debater): Alex Sodders

Best human being (coach): Yao Yao Chen

I'm biased because I've only debated in Austin and San Antonio, and I only went to two tournaments now that I think about it...

Post state edit: LASA MS IS FANTASTIC. I'm less impressed with Greenhill after actually seeing them. Y'all hyped them up way too much in my opinion. Not saying they're bad of course, just not what I was expecting. Then again GHill KS wasn't there.

I appreciate the support man, but I feel like I'm a bit over rated. I'm not as good as I should be in my opinion.

You're a fuckin meme and a half cupo please tell me you're gonna be judging next year.

Also +1 to Yao Yao and Eli Barrish too for teaching me to debate.

And I'd like to add Payton Woods as my favorite judge along with Philip

You have them in the order you should prep out already.

Benny has it right. LASA MS and MV, specifically, are their best teams. Dash and Elan (PW) from Hendrickson are probably best K debaters in the state right now. Westwood's kids aren't bad, they just don't have any fantastic teams this year. What school are you at, if I may ask?

I heard that Dash doesn't debate anymore. Elan was debating with Worth Carlin at TFA. Elan debated at the highest level I've ever seen to bring them to quarters where they were just outdebated by Lindale.

As half of Greenhill GE, I appreciate it. We're terrible speakers so I'm not surprised a lot of people are less-than-impressed. At least I've got two more years to figure it out :D

Biggest upset of the tournament was when Jesuit somehow managed to beat Kinkaid, they were one of the favorites to win the tourney along with lindale and lasa.

I was surprised because Jesuit seemed to have no clue what was going on during their round against Greenhill KM

They broke a new Aff that round that was written by one of their coach's and not themselves from what I heard. I personally wasn't there but that would explain some confusion. Ruiz is one of the top debaters on the Dallas circuit and he's gotten 3 bids and won Notre Dame.

Jesuit prepped out to the teeth for that Kinkaid round so I'm not surprised that they managed to come out on top.

Nah man biggest upset of state was LD finals being Jason Yang and Savaan and Savaan winning. My money was on Richard Cook from Strake, he dropped in semis. But for CX yeah I agree.

Also for all my LDers RIPperoni to the boi Nelson Okunlola for not breaking, he was a work of art and will be missed.

i mean nelson will be at the TOC so he's not done yet

also saavan's been on fire for past month- quarters at berkeley and now winning TFA- I don't think it was that big of an upset him winning

Well yeah but I'm kinda worried about Nelson - he's not really prepping that much. He's been doing CX a lot lately to prep for doing it at Northwestern, which I get, but I also feel like that's detracting from his LD performance. At NSDA NatQuals he didnt drop any rounds, but really barely, like he was making mistakes he should know not to make in LD so yeah.

And yeah Savaan's a beast, but I was more referring to a ) Jason Yang, and b ) Cook dropping in semis.

Vinay what school did you go to? You seem to know a lot about the Austin and Texas circuit. Did you go to Westwood? Just curious.
