Super anti state/reform kritiks of surveillance... with a plan text thrown on. Like a jv team ran informants and had wilderson solvency evidence.

And all neg rounds- like 99% of affs were objectively good ideas

PCLOB , tohono , borders k

Yes for an odd reason i did not like how common tohono was

And yeah the defensive links on kritiks were ridiculous, but also understandable given how poor neg ground was

PCLOB , tohono , borders k

PCLOB was the s***, and it was s***. The commission has absolutely zero power, but hey, it's a good idea.

My list:

Zooveilance

Biometrics K Affs

The 90% interp of substantial

Who even ran this holy shit.

My list:

Obscure "eliminate bad surveillance" affs that dont specify a program or actor they curtail but just anything deemed "Islamophobic" or some other term which fails to be defined or expanded upon.

Bout it, I liked this topic and my circuit is pretty good about not running really silly args.

As the person who wrote Tohono, T surveillance should have destroyed it haha.

Ohhh all the obligatory kritiks of topicality from the AFF.

"Their topicality is just like <insert one of the following>!"

-caging animals

-burning books

-silencing indigenous voices

-constructing borders

-definining citizenship

-threat construction...? (had someone argue that locally)

Etc

Those arguments are never going away :P One of the best ways critical teams answer Framework and Topicality is by employing disadvantages or framing arguments. For instance, when I ran Foucault (for a very brief period) last year, these are my answers to T:

A.     Embodiment – their interp forces us to debate from a disembodied perspective disconnected from our social position, perpetuating the belief in T truth, such as biopower. The impact is genocide from the rise of the military-industrial-academic complex. And because our subject position gets erased, there is no solvency for the topical version of the aff B.     Political Rationality – their model for education results in an impact calculus turns individual people’s lives and personal narratives into variables and internalizes the belief that war is inevitable. The belief that war is inevitable leads to the disposition of certain bodies. Voting for their model of education perpetuates this normalization and justifies certain people as disposable. That’s our Mendieta evidence And, prefer our interpretation, their framework is the surveillance state par-excellence—radical dissent is the only option for meaningful politics

These arguments will be contextual in any topic, and sadly, they're here to stay.

Terror DA's

Circumvention

Curtail means eliminate T's

Backdoors aff every round (when I was neg anyways)

Edit: Let's not forget the varying percentages of what substantial means. But that seems to happen every year so
