Does Heidegger work well this year?

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty sure you can spin off surveillance technologies as a form of enframing; entire populations turned into statical data, if not data in itself, for the purpose of security and capitalism. It's "means to an end" at it's best; there's also that really cool Heidegger aff Rowland Hall read in the Latin America topic that was concerned with the ontological question concerning security; pretty sure it's applicable to this topic.

There are definitely some cases that link to Heidegger. For example, 702 affs that read econ, internet or climate impacts. Other than that, I think it can be run, but it won't be a very strong option

UTNIF put out one similar, it's like an affirmation of anxiety that somehow allows one to embrace dasein

Well we read it as an aff for a little while, but the topic in terms of most affs is ideologically consistent with Heidegger because it's about decreasing surveillance, which Heidegger would see as a form of enframing/will to certainty.

The aff uses government and government is being in the they. Government social structures link hard

...the government does not automatically equal "the they". Society is founded on the image of "the they"/the ideal social subject. One of the ways that surveillance contributes to the formation of the they-self is disproportionately targeting certain populations that don't fit the image of the they-self, but if the aff curtails surveillance then that is a reduction of enframing/indicates no longer having a will to control, unless you're winning other links.
