Policy debate enforces Utopian rhetoric

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of some evidence saying that policy debate enforces Utopian rhetoric and practices. Also, if anybody knows where I could find some impacts for utopia bad that would be amazing. Thanks

I know at camp there was a team that ran a heidegger aff and whenever someone read framework against them they would either read or cross-apply stravrakakis on the framework flow. So this isn't really a policy specific card but you can make that argument that policy debate fw is utopian using the internals of the evidence

S's kritik of utopianism doesn't seem like a really good link.

That's the hope at least

Okay, then the better option isn't to argue fiat bad or fiat utopian or anything like that, since almost any decent team will easily point out why that argument just screws over debate and blah blah blah. It would be more effective to argue that your form of education is good, but more specifically that it's better than theirs for X contextual reason. For example, with the security K you can argue that they're indoctrinating our community with imperialist conceptualization of the world or whatever.

Utopian fiat bad is a perfectly reasonable argument to Utopian K alts.

Yeah it's got no bright line and all but honestly, what does anymore?

nah. same idea generally applies; fiat is nonsense on purpose.

"And that goes nuclear, Royal 10"

"And that structural violence o/w genocide, Berube 97"

"Zero Point Matrix of Genocide (or something like that), Dillian 99"

"Us Econ up, but on brink of collapse"

Seems Utopian to me :)

Though I see what people are talking about. The opposite is true with the way we claim a case to "solve" an issue in it's entirety.

all of those seem dystopian rather than utopian
