fund raising ideas?

Recommended Posts

my debate team always ends up cutting out tournaments bc we don't have a lot of money. we are looking to do more recruitment this year so we will have a bigger novice squad, so we will be spending more money with the same budget. right now we don't have a very big squad (6 people that would be willing to help) to fundraise over the summer... any ideas on what we could do to fundraise at least some amount of money?

Katie, use gofundme.com and ask people and post about it on social media and other places. Also get the parents of the novices to possibly donate money, as well as going to LOCAL bid tournaments rather than farther away ones, depending on how much you manage to raise/what your budget is. It's better to overestimate the costs of something than underestimate, but don't overestimate too much.

Talk to some local restaurants and see if they'll help you fundraise with a night for your debate team at their establishment. They're usually really helpful. After you get it set up, just put it on blast throughout the school and however else you can. Usually, they'll give you 10-15% of the tickets that mention they are dining that evening for your team.

Chipotle has always raised our school a lotta money regardless of the club that's asking for it

You know what just might work? One Friday or Saturday night host a "kid party/parents' night out"

STEPS:

1. Acquire a team member with living quarters big enough to host like 10+ kids (and a few members of the team as well)

2. Kid proof shit. Make sure there are no glass objects or anything fragile/expensive the kids might break.

3. Get local parents to drop their young children off at said house (this should probably be easy because in the summer a lot of parents are freaking desperate to get rid of their kids for a couple hours). Charge like $7 per kid per hour. From like 6-11, that's $35 a kid.

4. Have kids bring PJs. Kids love PJ parties.

5. Have the following: snacks, kid movies, crafts, idk whatever else kids like, and entertain the children.

6. ????

7. Profit

I'm someone who REALLY dislikes kids, but think about it, with 10 kids, and assuming you charge like $7 per kid per hour, you could make $350 in one night. Lather, rinse, repeat a couple times and you could have over $1000 for your team :). Just an idea.
