cutting cards from ebooks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm wondering what I would have to do to cut a card from a ebook using kindle? Does anyone have any ideas or previous expirience?

Cite the book as normal, but instead of saying what page numbers you got it from, give a close approximation of the "location" it's at and be sure to include what chapter or section it's under in case someone has a hard copy on hand to check. That, or try and find it in .pdf or as an actual book to get a real page number. Most people don't even include page numbers in their cites anyway so it's not gonna be that big of a deal, you probably don't have to worry!

Wow I'm dumb and thought you were asking about citing the book. Yeah you have to type it out, or maybe copy + paste the section and email it to yourself via the Kindle email app. I'm not sure if you're able to do that though, I haven't had a Kindle in a while.

Or if it's not that long, and you are going to be using it pretty much all the time and if you can't find a pfd file for free online then you can always type it. It seems like a lot of work but it will be worth it in the long run.

I cut books on my adobe reader iPhone app.  Highlight it down and then I email the PDF to myself.

Inefficient but sometimes I get bored in class and I need to get some Parfait cards in...

I cut from real physical books sometimes.  Retyping is a pain but still better than the oldschool method where photocopies of photocopies of photocopies got passed down for ages and repeatedly re-highlighted.

Take a screenshot, import to pdf. download nuance pdf reader and it converts pictures and photocopies word docs as text. That's been the easiest way for me when I buy books from kindle if you don't feel like typing it.
