Concordia Debate and Speech Scholarships

Recommended Posts

Concordia awards ten scholarships to seniors who want to compete in speech or debate.  The scholarships are valued at $10,000 over four years. These scholarships can be combined with a variety of academic scholarships and need based aid. Please let your students know about our scholarship opportunity. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is December 27th. To be eligible for Concordia scholarship programs, students must have completed the Concordia College application. The online application is FREE and available at http://www.concordiacollege.edu/admission-aid/apply/

Our forensics program has been competitive since the first debating society was formed in 1898. We have qualified teams to the National Debate Tournament 27 times, travel a rigorous national level schedule, and recently won the Emporia State debate tournament. The speech program has had six  national champions in individual events, finished among the top 20 sweepstakes schools at the AFA-NIET 19 times, and last year finished 15th in NIET Team Sweepstakes. The program also maintains a strong emphasis upon achievement in the traditional classroom.  Over the past 27 years our four-year graduation rate has been 100 percent.  Additionally, numerous top level national competitors have graduated with high academic honors.

The academic programs at Concordia allow our students to excel in multiple ways. The medical school acceptance rate for Concordia graduates is 88 percent; law school acceptance rate is 89 percent. These accomplishments are supported by the close relationships students build with professors while in college (1:13 faculty –student ratio). Students at Concordia also have access to numerous research opportunities with professors and a wide variety of internships.
