Who Should I Watch At St. Mark's?

Recommended Posts

I've been out of debate for about 10 years, but I'm going to go watch some rounds at St. Mark's in a couple weeks (I may even convince my wife to join me, as it is very hard for her to understand exactly how I spent my HS years...). I'd like to see the "best" in action. I'd also enjoy watching team(s) running arguments or using strategies that weren't common "in my day," if any.

Any suggestions?

i know that C.E. Byrd has a pretty unique style.as someone who knows them i know they're able to keep up with and beat anybody. and if one is willing to be changed by debate, i would really reccomend seeing them

Byrd is definitely an interesting team to watch - they usually have something innovative to say on the negative. There are other teams like Greenhill (SP, I believe, is the current top team) that are classic debaters who might bring back a lot of nostalgia (good, clean cut kids reading lots of evidence and making strong arguments supported by in-depth research). Kinkaid HR is an incredible team with 2 excellent debaters who are not only good at the game but also genuinely nice and polite people - truly a pleasure to watch and judge.
