Scranton Tournament Registration Open [December 1-3, 2012]

Recommended Posts

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to the First Annual Electric City Invitational in Scranton, PA from Saturday, December 1st, 2012 thru Monday December 3rd, 2012 (registration will be held the evening of November 30th). The tournament will consist of competition in Varsity and Novice Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy Debate. We anticipate novice policy, LD, and PF all to be finished on December 2nd, with Varsity Policy extending to December 3rd. Finally, this years policy tournament has been designated a Semi-Final bid to the Tournament of Champions in Lexington, Kentucky.

You can find the registration link to Joy of Tournament here - http://www.joyoftournaments.com/pa/langan/info.asp?p=1

In addition to the fantastic hospitality provided throughout the tournament, this year we've institutes a few changes:

1. E- Registration - we're offering it this year. We'd like all teams to pay ahead of time so we can streamline the registration process on November 30. All information is listed on the website. Using this system will allow you to check-in once you've come to Scranton instead of having to deal with registration lines.

2. Judging - you need to cover at least half your entry this year to be eligible to hire judges. Its unreasonable to assume a tournament can provide the judging for your entire entry, especially at a regional tournament. In addition you must request hired judging through Joy of Tournaments. Each request needs to be confirmed. Please do not assume you have hired judging till you receive that confirmation. Also after you request hired judging you, you are responsible for that judging even if your entry becomes smaller.

3. School Fees - due to the administrative costs associated with running the tournament, we need to institute a school fee based on the number of students attending the tournament. If you have 6 or fewer students you'll owe $25. If you have more than 6 students you'll owe $50. These fees will go toward maintenance and supplies throughout the tournament.

4. Judge Info - before your registration will be complete you must provide the link to your judges Philosophy page on judgephilosophies.wikispaces.com. In addition because we're looking to use the warm room and e-ballot technology that Joy of Tournaments has designed we'll need your judges cell phone number and provider so they can receive contact from the tournament. If you don't complete these you'll be unable to complete registration and receive your invoice.

We look forward to hosting you in Scranton this December! Please feel free to contact me at ElectricCity.Invitational@gmail.com with any further questions.

Best,

Brian Manuel
