5A with seeds...

4 Bellaire CZ v 13 Coronado CC

8 Clear Lake SY v 9 Westwood RaR

7 Westside DO v 10 Berkner AS

2 MacArthur RZ v 15 Lubbock CK

6 Central BH v 11 Memorial GK

1 Dulles HA v 16 Cooper EP

3 Dulles TR v 14 Churchill BL

5 Westlake FP v 12 Woodlands JT

So there were 6 or more undefeated in 4a? But 5a broke 2-2? How did you get seeds?

Those guys were amazing. They were top speakers and made arguments that made sense if you were a competent debater. Leo vela and PJ are amazing representatives of this activity.

I fixed your statements for you. I dunno if you noticed, but you were saying the complete opposite of the truth. You also probably don't know "the other guy"'s name because when his name was called out for TOP SPEAKER, the applause drowned the presenter of the award.

tldr; mad?

That's Hector Rocha, a former Mercedes debater. He's being facetious, though it's definitely an example of poorly-executed sarcasm.

i dont think UIL does co-champs...last year when hallsville closed out finals one was declared winner

The UIL director asked us to so they would have the video.

I don't know what happened this year with Dulles, but last year Hallsville debated out last round because the director of UIL asked them to. I don't know their official policy, though.

yes, they had the dulles teams debate. Look at the post right above you, it was a 2-1 for the neg. And I'm almost positive this is official policy, not only has it been done a few times at state but it is also followed at the district meet.

However i'm also pretty convinced most of the reason the want people at state to do this is so they can still get the footage of the finals round.

Sorry for a lack of clarity. I simply meant that I didn't know if the director had asked them to debate or if they had wanted to. I do know that the reason they wanted us to debate last year was for footage.

Sorry didn't mean to come of as brash as i did. They were asked, i don't think any of the four actually wanted to debate it out.

Rich Edwards' software has a tell. I'm not sure if it applies for the powermatched rounds in prelims, but in elims, if you put the rooms in numerical order, that is correct order. Then, the team on left is the higher seed (unless it's a preset round because they met in prelims).

For the record, the 4A championship was an EXCELLENT round. Two VERY talented teams put on a real showcase. It was a pleasure to judge and an unfortunate task to pick a winner. Congratulations to Mercedes and to Austin LBJ (and their coaches).
