having seen 8 rounds this year, all this weekend, i'm really not qualified to participate in this discussion but this afternoon i saw the most devastating 2n i've seen since 2007, and possibly the best politics analysis i've seen since nfl nationals 2006. don't remember your name but that was damn impressive.

I considered filling one out but then I figured I would probably come off like a jerk. Instead, I made a top 5 debaters list. Its in random order.

Addison Schile - This guy has the material to be incredible at debate. While some of his tech is lagging, the quality of the arguments he makes is fantastic.

Henry Reid - I thought that this guy was probably the most interesting debater I met all season. He sounded fantastic and while he hasn't gotten some of the coaching that would improve his blocks, the dude is just naturally talented. I think he may be the best individual debater I debated this season in Kansas. He was also incredibly friendly.

Michael Kennedy - Michael is definitely the most promising debater in Kansas. If anyone is to make our state look less embarrassed nationally its him. As a sophmore he managed to rock most of you..... He also is the coolest person to talk to outside of round.

Darshan "the sri lankan nightmare" Sivakumar - Darshan is definitely the most underrated debater in Kansas. This kid was more persistent than anyone I know and I was thoroughly impressed by his improvement throughout the season.

William Ashley - While this kid said things that made me laugh at him like "the DA massively turns the case" as opposed to just turning the case. There is just something about him that compels me to include him in my top 5 pics of 2010-2011.

I’ll preface my post by apologizing for its obvious east Kansas bias. I didn’t get the opportunity to face much of the west’s top teams.

Best all around team (speed and open styles): WEast Orsi/Redler

Best Squad: Wichita East, SME, or BVW

Coach of the year: Mark Kapfer, saving arguably his greatest season for his last

Best speed-style team: BVN Waldman/Foreman

Best lay team: BVW Birzer/Saiedian. Ideen’s quite the charmer.

Best Affirmative Team: WEast Orsi/Redler

Best Negative Team: SME Carey/Hill

Prettiest Speaker: Sam Nichols

Fastest Debater: I really don’t know… Sam, Anthony Frook, Kanan Boor, and Michael Hill are all impressively fast.

Best 1A: Sam Nichols

Best 2A: Lucy Orsi

Best 1N: Michael Hill

Best 2N: Sam Nichols… her Credibility/Commitment/Appeasement/Hegemony 2NC is unparalleled. Honorable mention to Salman Husain and Addison Schiele.

Most likely to do well next year in high school: SME's juniors, WaRu's juniors, BVSW Marine/Arney, and BVW Birzer/Saiedian

Person most likely to graduate and judge: Ciera Foreman

Best Judge: Trey Kapfer

Most under-rated team: BVSW Marine/Arney

Best K debater: SME Towster/Kenney beat us with a critical TNW’s aff at KCKCC, so I’ll call it a tie between those two.

Best Politics Debater: Chris Carey, the only person to beat me with a politics scenario this year.

Most likely to be NDT champion: Darshan Sivakumar

Best way to carry tubs: With your arms, the old-school way.

Best place to eat at the tournament: The Corral

Nicest debater to chat with outside of rounds: I got to know a lot of really nice people this year. If you’re reading this and think you may be one of them, you probably are.

Best transportation to the tournament: Any van Mark Kapfer is driving.

Best storage for evidence: The special expando I use for my best arguments (i.e. the NFL Lockout D/A)

Best evidence: MacGregor in ’10, the impact card to our NFL Lockout scenario.

Best argument: The NFL Lockout D/A. It has a 100% win record.

Best aff: PMCs

Best excuse for losing a round: “It was my partner’s fault…”

Best medium for flowing: Legal paper

Best tournament for between-rounds hanging out: WaRu/DCI
