Judging at Newton DCI Tournament November 12-13

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is Tyler Brotton from Newton looking for any judges that would be willing to come and judge at the Alma Momma Moore Invitational to be held at Newton High School November 12-13.

This tournament will have an open division and a DCI qualifier division. All experienced judges will be put in DCI division (unless you prefer open division) and overflows to Open. If you prefer to judge only DCI division we can make that work.

***Laptops can be used by BOTH judges and debaters.***

For all you experienced lay haterz out there, there will be pretty much all flow judges in the DCI division. We will try out best to provide the best judges as possible in the upper divisions.

For all you experienced lay luvrs out there, Open division is the division for you. :)

The round schedule is as follows:

Friday November 12:

Round 1 - 4:00 pm

Round 2 - 5:30 pm

Round 3 - 7:00 pm

Saturday November 13:

Round 4 - 8:00 am

Round 5 - 9:30 am

Lunch - 11:00 am

Awards - 12:30 pm

Quarters - 1:00 pm

Semis - 2:30 pm

Finals - 4:00 pm

Potential judges can email me at andyspice3@yahoo.com, or send me a message on facebook.

We look forward to hosting a successful tournament like last year, and to see as many teams there as possible.

By the way, we have pretty much reached the maximum amount of teams so any of you that have not entered will most likely be placed on a waiting list.

How many teams will be there? 8 or 16 DCI bids?

This, also what is the judging pool looking like? How many of the "flow judges" are college debaters vs former HS debaters, etc?

There will be a multitude of varsity judges, I don't know how many, but hopefully 25 per round. For sure, the better you do, the better judges you get. Right now 51 varsity 37 open. We are breaking to quarter finals, and giving 9-16 place teams bids.
