JLB 133 Report post Posted July 10, 2009 (edited) Calhoun (October 9-10) Sandra W. Silvers CALHOUN SPEECH & DEBATE TEAM Calhoun, Georgia It is our pleasure to invite you to Calhoun’s Sandra Worthington Silvers Classic which will be held at Calhoun High School, Friday and Saturday, October 9-10, 2009. The Silvers Classic is a Richard B. Russell Georgia All-State qualifier for semi-finalists in policy debate. The Calhoun/Silvers Classic has traditionally awarded trophies of exceptional quality, and this year we will again award the beautiful Sandra Worthington Silvers Traveling Cup to the winning varsity policy debate team. In addition to Varsity, Junior Varsity and Novice policy debate, we will be offering Lincoln Douglas debate, and Public Forum debate. We will also bring back an event which we offered a few years ago, which is now very big on the college circuit: Parliamentary debate. IE’s include Oratory, DI, HI, DDI, Extemp, Impromptu, and Prose-Poetry. Congress will be offered on Friday night only. To accommodate our out of town guests, IE’s, LD and PF and Parli will be offered on Saturday only. All schools should use http://www.joyoftournaments.com to register, beginning August 21. NOTE: Since many programs are having to deal with funding cuts, we will be reducing our school and individual registration fees. Please join us in the North Georgia mountains for this traditional tournament. Very truly yours, Julie Leggett, Forensics Coach J. Lane Bearden, Debate Coach (Questions? CHSchick 135 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 That is quite the possibility since I'm hearing that most of the students in the class are terrified of policy.

JLB 133 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 Late update - since Calhoun in is Fall Break tomorrow (no school), it makes more sense for teams to avoid the Civic Auditorium and register at the table in front of the tab room. The Tab room (our debate room) is G-5. If you park in the parking lot between the school and the football field (Impressive huh? I mean the football field, not the school. But we are looking at a SPLOST for a new one - again, I mean the school), registration is in the building to your left. tyvm & drive safely - JLB
