Make a playlist

Recommended Posts

Here's a playlist I've been putting every now and then when I'm in the mood for it. I'm fairly proud of the way it progresses. There's nothing on here that's obscure, so if you listen to this sort of music you'll probably have heard it all before. Meh.

(and yes I am aware that Brand New is terrible, but it's one of those songs that I've got a personal attachment to, and I forgot to take it out. My apologies.)

track list:

Pixies - Hey

Placebo - Every You, Every Me

Harvey Danger - Woolly Muffler

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile

Broken Social Scene - Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl

Death Cab For Cutie - What Sarah Said

The Eels - Theme For A Pretty Girl That Makes You Believe God Exists

Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day

Low - Laser Beam

The Divine Comedy - To Die a Virgin

Okkervil River - Calling and Not Calling my ex

Bright Eyes - Lover I Don't Have to Love

Mirah - Engine Heart

Brand New - The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot (acoustic)

Fiona Apple - Not About Love

The Mountain Goats - Dilaudid

dan this is excellent, thanks for sharing. you just got me into a whole slew of new bands.

no problem dude, if you dig it i keep up a blog at intocb.blogspot.com where i post free mixtapes and mp3s, videos, etc. that playlist is pretty reflective of what i'm really interested in right now, and that sort of music gets a lot of coverage on my site </shameless self-promotion>

Here's a playlist I made the other day. I was trying to recreate a tape I got in junior high but ended up just downloading a bunch of female fronted bands that I like and haven't listened to in awhile. This is the result:

01. Gits - Second Skin

02. Heavens To Betsy - Decide

03. Bikini Kill - Rebel Girl

04. Sleater-Kinney - Good Things

05. Rilo Kiley - A Better Son/Daughter

06. Drugstore - Favourite Sinner

07. Le Tigre - My My Metrocard

08. The Knife - One for You

09. My Brightest Diamond - Workhorse

10. Bonfire Madigan - Anthemic Amendments

11. Guts Pie Earshot - Every Day

12. Matson Jones - He Means Nothing, Dear

13. Cat Power - Metal Heart

14. Rainer Maria - Atropine

15. Julie Doiron - Condescending You

Gangsta, Gangsta

1. Gangsta, Gangsta - N.W.A.

2. Player's Anthem - Junior M.A.F.I.A.

3. Dead Wrong - Notorious B.I.G. and Eminem

4. Dead Presidents II - Jay-Z

7. Still Don't Give a Fuck - Eminem

9. Untitled - Jedi Mind Tricks

I'm vaguely afraid of Burns coming on here to put me to shame with his more extensive knowledge of rap/hip-hop, but when I need to get away from the banality of suburban life, I like to kick it like I'm rollin' 10 deep.
