brainjohn2005 286 Report post Posted August 5, 2008 I actually disagree and say it is a pretty big issue. There is a lot of literature, that lets say before a round, you would have to go to the source and recut in order to run it in a round starting in 30 minutes. That isn't fair for a lot of schools who don't have the massive resources to prepare before a tournament, like myself, who depends on camp files for most of his prep before the season starts. This notion of having to "go back to the source" seems kind of silly. Since 1) you can copy and paste from pdfs, even if you can't select the text. It will be pasted as an image file. And 2) What is so bad about printing a single piece of paper that says <insert debate camp name> at the top? I think the NDCA is doing a lot by actually requesting this from the camps. There aren't always "other sources" you can access. Like the various FTP stuff, you need a password for. I'm not sure how much cross-x.com is promoted but I doubt every debater in the country knows about it or reads it. The NDCA probably is much more well known and I imagine it will be linked from their main site. Brandon would know more about that than me. No one says you have to use this anyway. If you don't like what Brandon, Tara, and the others involved with the NDCA are doing, don't bother using it when it gets put up.
