Fantasy Nationals 2008

Recommended Posts

It's become a tradition. Who is interested in participating and would Mr. Dubois or anyone else like to set up scoring, and other procedures.

The reverse draft worked well last year, where the first overall pick, picks last in the next round, and the last pick gets the first pick in the next round.

Aren't I a defending champion or something like that? I'll get a team in.

Here are links to pages that might give you ideas of how to run it.

I put a lot of work into it last year, and would rather pass the torch to someone else that wants to do it.

The main problem here is that deferrals in the various NFL districts have apparently made a train wreck of the official qualifiers list, and we have no definitive list of the replacements.

But do what y'all want. I have to think that any mechanism which forces you to think about NFL Nats is better than the alternative.

I'll go through the list sometime soon. Does anyone know of any changes, like drops, that might have changed the qualifiers in any district?

just come up with the list, let the people note any changes beyond what you have, and if nothings noted then i guess people are out of luck if they draft someone that is not actually competing. imo, if you're drafting someone you don't *know* for your team and can't confirm that they'll be their independently, you aren't a good enough team manager to have deserved that pick (comin from the dude that gotta a steal by pickin up SMW after my SME policy team dropped late last year, leading me to the championship).

in all seriousness, i think if it turns out that someone picks a position that turns out to not be attending the tournament, they should be able to immediately pick another qualifier from the same event, regardless of it being their turn in the order.

I'm thinking of making the draft June 8th. At noon. The goal would be to have everyone draft in a row for a set number of rounds, like 5, and then finish the draft the next day. Any thoughts?

Assuming everyone would try and get it done that quickly, that wouldn't be a bad idea

won't work, get the board ready asap and set a restrictive limit (12-24 hours). people's schedules are too jacked up in the summer.

You're likely right. We do need a rather quick draft though which makes it hard if picks aren't succesive because if someone picks at 3 A.M. I likely won't make another until eleven. Any time that is good for everyone?

On second thought, movingonup is right. This should start as quickly as possible. I think a 12 limit between picks would work best. Even if people make picks at odd hours of the morning, you are more than likely going to check cross-x anyway within the following twelve hours.

I will set up tomorrow. I will be gone June 1st-7th but will have someone pick for me.

we did this pretty successfully last year, people would send me a list of their 5-10 most desired qualifiers if they know they would not be around to make their pick, and they would get whoever was up on the board that was highest on their list until they came back.
