Now that this is actually close, might as well start the discussion:

Pembroke is sending four teams:

Bolman/Sharp

Vale/Barnow

Hodgman/Marquelle "You Brush Yo Teef?" Smith

Shaiken/Sharp

I want to get in on the Pembroke posting party. I have nothing important to add. Just don't want to be left out.

i agree with miller, no need to say anything important. but i do think pembroke should have its own thread so that we can just respond to our own posts without disturbing the public

Team events - CX, PF, Duo - need 30 to qualify 3, Individual events need 38

From the NFL District Manual:

participants in each event (participation in at least one preliminary contest round).

Speech, and L/D

4-11 entrants - 1 qualifier

12-37 entrants - 2 qualifiers

38--57 entrants - 3 qualifiers

58+ entrants - 4 qualifiers

Team Debate and Duo

4-9 Teams - 1 qualifier

10-29 Teams - 2 qualifiers

30-49 Teams - 3 qualifiers

50+ Teams - 4 qualifiers

We just received an email from our district chair, Mr. Good, showing us entry numbers, and what we need to bump up numbers. There are schools out there (I don't know which ones) that have not used every entry available. Please talk to your coaches to make sure that your school is using every available entry, even if that means sending someone who has never done the event before as a sacrificial lamb. Grandview has two entries we haven't used, and we are going to be using them in oratory to bump that number closer to the threshold. PLEASE HELP US GET 3 ENTRIES IN EVERYTHING (and maybe 4 in PuF).

Below are the numbers as of about an hour ago:

Event/Entry Number/Qualifiers/Entries needed to get additional qualifier

Policy/37/3/13

Duo/24/2/6

PF/45/3/5

DI/44/3/14

HI/30/2/8

USX/36/2/2

IX/36/2/2

OO/33/2/5 (will be 3 once GV makes additions)

LD/44/3/14

USX, IX and OO are so close. Please make sure that your squads are doing everything possible to increase these numbers. If PuF were to get 5 more entries Show-Me would do something we haven't done as long as I've been around (14 years), and that is qualify 4 in an event. Apparently a lot of schools are already sending 4 in PuF, and that is why we are so large, but if you aren't, please help there too.

I think Belton is going to try to fill 2-3 of the needed in oratory.

I think we're also throwing in some folks into oratory as well.

Those folks are overrated. Marquelle "The Ladies Man" Smith is going to be the real competition at this tournament. :)

Also, I think that Missouri will make a really good showing this year at NFL... and people will be surprised! So yeah I guess state is going to be killer too!

Updates...

After today Oratory will qual 3 and DX will also qual 3. IX still needs more to qual 3. Public Forum still needs 5 entries to qualify 4 teams.

So Tyler and I will be running 3 (maybe 4) Affirmatives

RFID (With a few changes) w/ AIDS ad. and Pharma Companies ad.

Palliative Care w/ AIDS Pain, AIDS Orphans, and Bare Life Ads.

Informed Consent w/ Human Exploitation Ad.

Medflags (this is the maybe case) Disease, China Relations, and I am not sure on the 3rd Ad.

Belton loves their multiple affs...

Are you more likely to run those in regular rounds or save them for outs?

As for disclosure, everyone at Pembroke is running something different and exciting, so you'll have to ask individual teams. As always, my AIM is to your left.

Congrats to everyone. We had some of our toughest rounds in this tournament.

Figured I'd post my favorite comment from a judge: "There were no negatives to either team's arguments. But in debate, one team has to come in second."

Apologies if that's taboo or anything.

You know, we're thinking about it. But after all, plan texts are very racist...
