South Dakota Debate Rankings (1st Ranks - 11/12/07)

Recommended Posts

The South Dakota Debate Circuit has just finished its 2nd tournament and the competition has been fierce. Here are the top 5 ranked teams per SDDRU (South Dakota Debate Rankings per Ulysses):

5. Freidenback/Hussein (Yankton) - Started the season off at 4-0 with decisive victories over WHS Dirose/O'Hara and Roosevelts's Thompson/Gildemaster. Despite their medicore performance at Aberdeen's Golden Cup, they look to rebound at Mitchell.

4. Pierson/Girdihar (AC) - The Defending Northern District Qualifiers get back into the swing of things at with strong performance at home tournament. Last year in Mitchell at the George McGovern Forensics Tournament, the tandem made it to the final round. They look to repeat.

3. Kerr/Aadland (BHS) - The team of Juniors have made an impact on the South Dakota Circuit and looks to make an ever bigger one as the season continues. The duo placed fourth at the opener and debated for entry into the final round at The Aberdeen Golden Cup. This team is ready to kick it into the next level.

2. Dirose/O'Hara (WHS) - Coming off of a summer at SDI, this team has the tools necesary to compete at the State and beyond level, but their style isn't turning heads - yet. As the State Circuit progresses into the later tournaments , this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

1. Simon/Holkesvick (AC) - Undisputed number one team in the State Circuit. 4-0 at Roosevelt and decisive victory in final round over WHS's Dirose and O'Hara. This team looks to kick it into a whole new gear, and pull away. Expierience with Simon and reliability with Holkesvick, this team is number one in the state.

Watch out for - The following teams look to make a jump at Mitchell's McGovern Tournament and make it into the SDDRU Rankings:

Mettler/Heirings (AC) - Went the distance at The Golden Eagle Cup by placing third, but does that really matter? They played at home and failed to win when it mattered. But can they prove us wrong? We'll see at Mitchell.

Dunn/Miller (SFL) - Debated in Minnesota with the results unofficial. Decisive performance at Roosevelt but can they make a splash at Mitchell?

Barton/Telleria (VHS) - With a 4-0 perforamence at Roosevelt, this Vermillion team looks to make an impact at Mitchell.

Miller/Gutzman (VHS) - 4-0 performance at JV level at Roosevelt and a decisive 3-0 at final round in JV at The Cup, this team could jump to the Champ level and make an impact. Just a matter of when.

Thompson/Gildemaster (SFR or W?) - 2-2 Showing at Roosevelt. Unofficial performance at The Cup. With the recent hiring of former State Champion Mike Ewald, this team has all the tools to make it into the rankings and perform at the Circuit Level.

These are th official SDDRU rankings for 11/12/07. They are non-partison rankings and serve only as a who's who. Strategies and Aff cases will never be discussed, only victories and storyline.

didn't this team lose to a shitty watertown team in round two and then get butt fucked by another watertown team in the final round?

I'm sure your reffering to rounds 3 and 5. In round 3, this powerhouse was upset by WHS Timm/Culhane and in round 5, they were blanked by WHS Thompson/Farber.

Ok, this is exactly why this is not a good idea - amazing how the same 16 and 17 year olds who can wax poetically about hege and the finer points of international politics can sound so terrible just days later - seriously not impressed.

Just for the record it's Giridhar, I know no one can pronounce it but we might as well spell it right.

Agreed. This is ridiculous. You would like to think that one who can discuss such pressing issues in society would have a slightly better vocabulary.

No, it's not. Did you even read the thread before posting? The thread is about policy, and not once is Public Forum mentioned. Your ignorance is annoying.
