Francis Fukuyama is the obvious democracy good author.

 

Democracy bad can fall into any of a number of different categories. Check your anarchism, deep eco, Chomsky, and Marxism files to see if you have anything already cut.

Dahl's "Democracy and its Critics" would sound particularly interesting to me. It seems to be widely used, so it's probably at your local library.

depends on what you mean by democracy. Like, when Fukuyama and Bush talk about democracy it is very different then when Hardt and Negri, and Laclau and Mouffe talk about democracy.

 

Which can provide a lot of ground between affs that claim demo promotion, I hadn't really thought of that kritik ground. Hmm, kick ass....
