What about just not putting your opponents up on a pedestal or thinking the others are easy wins. Preparing and debating your best for every round is always a good idea. I don't know and I'm not saying you're one of them, but too many kids don't give themselves a chance just because they're hitting a team they've heard was "one of the best" beforehand.

I have to say this thread is pretty silly, i agree that you should just prepare as well as you can and then just debate. I promise you the best debaters just debate, and they don't worry about the rest. Or at least you do as well as you can to not worry about the rest. Also no one person (with the exception of maybe DD) could tell with any sort of accuracy who the competition in california is going to be before the year even starts.(camp improves alot of kids, and some kids dont get better so...)

Other then that, im coming for california.

I think CPS, Damien, Notre Dame, Fullerton, and Jesuit all had teams that went to ToC last year and will probably have strong teams next year.

i'd also add

La Costa. 3 of the 4 juniors went to NFLs and did well

Loyola. really good juniors and good coaching

Head Royce. a KY fellow which is a super impressive start

Harker has a bunch of people coming back.

As for Damien, we retain the coaching of Eric "Wyoming" Forslund and Justin "The Dean of Mean" Skarb.

They'll be leading a talented squad. Here are some highlights:

Trevor and Andres will be returning as seniors after a junior year where they won 3 TOC bids. Ian Nelson will also be coming back after being in finals of USC and going 13-0 in prelims at the USC RR.

Greg Rodarte and Sean Hernandez ( a TOC bid winner) will be back as juniors after a great sophomore year where they cleared at Woodward and won the USC RR.

Reid "The Best Debater Ever" Ehrlich-Quinn will see if he can live up to his monicker as he starts his sophomore year. Words alone cannot describe the impact of watching him in action, his words flying like hot steel into your ears, tunneling deep into your head and blowing your mind. Can the debate community handle him or will judges be too distracted by his white hot good looks and bear like physical power to render decisions?

haha damien is awsome. esp. Alex velto he is going to be good
