hylanddd 468 Report post Posted March 27, 2009 HI, I actually don't know how to play that game. I'm old school - give me a dungeon master's guide, a monster manual, some graph paper, and the appropriate dice..who needs comptuers? LOL. I'm sad though - this is the first time in a decade that I will not be at State Debate!! Someone will have to tell me all about it.
Randomly Laughing 44 Report post Posted March 28, 2009 oliver, your twin is currently living in edinburgh airport. his hair is even exactly like yours. unless that is you. though i don't think you'd really care about northern ireland's world cup qualifier group as he seems to. by living, i dont mean he's homeless, i think. when is states? jmc_va 54 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 states is april 24th and 25th, at liberty. eastern region will be sending... in contemp: cox, princess anne, and kempsville in classic: 2 princess anne teams and western branch
hylanddd 468 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 We had REgionals yesterday but since I wasn't there I don't know who's coming. I know they had enough teams in Contemp and Classic to run a full 5 round tourney - my guess is you'll see TJ, Stone Bridge, Washington and Lee, and some other school - West Potomac or Chantilly at States...not sure though.... akessler 10 Report post Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) The northern region results for contemporary were: 1: TJ CK 2: TJ KZ 3. Stonebridge GO edit: and classic: 1. West Potomac ?? 2. TJ KW 3. Oakton ?? Edited April 1, 2009 by akessler
hylanddd 468 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) Those are some surprising results in Classic - neither Oakton or West Potomac has been to the State tourney in policy in a very long time....good job to both schools!! And congrats to TJ and Stone Bridge too. I'm sad Yorktown won't be along this trip, but it appears the Northern Region has some strong representation! In a completey different note - for WACFL debaters - three of your alumn are currently meeting in the Doubles of the NDT. Mary Washington KS - Kevin Kalmeyer (Good Counsel) and Matt Struth (Stone Bridge) are meeting Whitman CS Nate Cohn (not from WACFL) and Daniel Straus (Yorktown) - this is, to the best of my knowledge, the first time that this has happened in an NDT elim round in a quite some time - perhaps the first time ever, but I'm not completely sure. This is a good day for Virginia/Maryland debate! Edited March 30, 2009 by hylanddd
RedHead 821 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 ya, i saw that.. kinda sad though cuz it also means someone has to lose.
hylanddd 468 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 It's a rematch of the...uhmm..I think the octas round at Northwestern this past Spring, where Mary Wash picked up.....it is sad, but it is happy - it means that the League rebuilding effort that Mr. Richards and myself committed to a decade ago, is paying dividends - there were more WACFL alumn in the NDT this year, than in any previous year - and that makes me smile!! hylanddd 468 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 Hi, sad (I mean, I have to stay loyal to Whitman) but good for Virginia debate in general, and good luck to Matt and Kevin in their remaining rounds - may they stay in for several more!!

arien 10 Report post Posted April 5, 2009 (edited) preempt- (my name is niccolo and I am soooooo coooooool) Why does kaitlyn still go on to these boards...just out of curiosity. I am going on because I have time to kill in the post-NDT phase. Just to clarify...Out of D7, Mary Wash KS and Towson CL got to the quarterfinals of the National Debate Tournament. Towson JM dropped in the Double-Octs to Cal Berkeley BP. And one of the best debates I was privilaged enough of judging was NDT Round 7 between Towson CL on the aff vs Wake Forest GL on the neg. It is great to see that VA is being represented quite well through straus (he was wearing his patriot classic t-shirt!), matt and kevin. Word on the street is that the TOC is coming up and States is as well. Who has qualified for either of those tournaments and if possible, when are the dates and does anyone need any judging taken care of? I might be able to help.
