My partner and I are going to 3 week.

Does anyone have specific advice on what to bring to SDI?

Also, how many tubs/expandos will be needed for camp ev, space really isnt a concern, we will be driving.

Between my partner and I we had 2 tubs ( only used one for the tub tournament. ) and we had I want to say maybe 10 expandos? You get a fair amount of evidence and you can always buy expandos in the shop really cheap. Bring a fan you can plug in for your room ( it will get nice and toasty, or nice and humid really fast) Pens and flow pads, and if you have a laptop it wouldn't hurt. Walking to the library got old really fast! Bring enough money for 3 weeks ( this includes books at the bookstore, takeout every nite, etc.) Or you can put faith into the cafeteria food ( I didn't). A flash drive would also help. And you're probally better off bringing some of your theory files just incase you want to get Kritikal. A brita water filter also, because the facet water there isn't so good. Taste like blood. A variety of snacks also ( cheez-its, pop-tarts, just general snack like food) And your own sheets if you don't want to be using theirs.

Oh and for those who were on the 3rd floor for week 3 all know, bring a siren and some loud music for the 10:59 parties.

If you are driving BRING FANS, and allitle fridge thing (my roommate had one and it was sweet) and water bottles.

Laptop if you have one, they are verrrrrrrrry useful.

1 tub ( you won't really need 2)

expandos maybe 3 or 4 (for arguments you will run often)

flow paper

toiletries

tooth paste

tooth brush

deodorant

soap/shampoo

razor(s)

Clothing

money about 125-300 bucks for, renting fans (highly advised, 2 would be great), food on Sundays, food for late nights, copying fees ect.

Esp if you're not putting faith in the cafeteria food (which is honestly ok), you could bring some raman noodles and hot stuff, because you can rent a microwave. I've always kind of found it worthwile. Nothing is as worthwhile as the fan though. . . .nothing. . . .

Also, by the way, anyone know whether we're stuck in last year's location again? Because that really sucked.

Yo, I;m going to the 5wk

Last year at Umich I found that a microwave was a pain to use. Better was a hot water heater that could be used for making coffee, tea, ramen. Also, it takes up less space. I'm lucky, I can drive up to MSU, so I can bring a fan and extra tubs. Water bottles you can get from Walmart or whatever, you will probably have to drink bottled water if you aren't used to the hard water (with minerals - basically well water) they have up there.

If you are driving, bring extra tubs, expandos etc. They will get stolen, borrowed, etc. Also, you can use the tubs for food storage. Bring snacks and stuff to - chips etc, its a lot cheaper than going to 7/11 or the vending machine.

Laptop is a must. Don't forget a charger and a flash drive.

Dexter u still going. I feel bad for you and Bala, and the debate program man...

Yeah, I'm going to five week too. And by the way, for you kids who have never been to SDI, even if you can drive, don't worry about bringing everything but the kitchen sink, because if we're in the same place we were last year, there IS stuff like a huge Walgreens type place nearby. Actually, it's like a dollar store, so that's really cheap. We stocked up on chips, noodles, pop tarts, and stuff. Also, there's like a little convenient store type thing that's open till like ten in the actual dorms.

If we're in the old dorms, it'll be better because we're nearer to the actual part of East Lansing that is worth going to, with B & N, Coldstone, and Urban Outfitters, but then there aren't convenient stores and stuff.

I haven't had a big problem with stealing. . .except we did have a klepto in the dorms last year. . .other than that. . .yeah I'm actually serious. But nothing too important got taken-just remember to actually lock the doors.

What camp is this y'all talking about it sound fun

Ok it sounds like no one answered your original question, outside of making fun of your speech/type. But I'm from AR, so I, unfortunately, understand. We're talking about SDI, held at MSU. Great camp, loved it, you should come.

And I just heard that the dorms will be back in the old location on Grand River Ave. If anyone could confirm this, that'd be great. There's no dollar store, but we ARE closer to civilization, and civilization > dollar store.

Thanks for your concern man. The future of our program is in the gray area right now. If I debate next year, my options are probably SDI 5 and DDI. I am almost certain Bala will attend DDI if we have a program.

Just Google SDI 2007. You can get a bunch of info and also apply online.
