mental health...

Recommended Posts

Can anyone think back to the mental health topic and give me some authors/credible articles/any information about poverty/mental illness, the harms associated with homeless people that have mental disorders, and being poor/homeless as it relates to having a mental disorder? Maybe something about mental hospitals closing down due to lack of funds as well?

I haven't heard it this year. I wish I could help you out, but I haven't actually seen anything on this. I have heard people talking about it, but that is as far as it goes.

Sorry I can't help you.

breggin was ritalin.

i can't help with the "poor people are crazy/crazy people are poor" argument, but i will say that if you do some searches for news stories from that year about the cuts that were made to medicare/medicaid and the state-level financial crisis, maybe including search terms like "community mental health care" or "community based mental health care" that there were a LOT of CMHCs (as well as traditional mental insitutions) that got the axe, lost funding, etc.

I personally wasnt around for this topic. However, I am pretty sure that if you searched the internet for the information that you were looking for, that you would definately find something. Information on mental health in general, could probably be found by researching psychologists. Also, may I ask what is the reason for this thread? I could see how it has some possibility relating to next years topic, but I am just curious about how you are going to use it.
