    A-Spec - Oceans 2014

A-spec is usually pretty silly. However, while doing some politics research for the oceans topic I came across a number of really good cards about bureaucratic agency politics empirically undermining US ocean management/development policy. This means that an engaged discussion about agency implementation is a pre-requisite to aff solvency. These cards are extremely specific and high quality. The coolest part of this component of the argument is that oftentimes the 2AC will just read their generic frontline to A-Spec and completely forget about the solvency debate. So in the block, you can just go for the substantive component of the argument and crush them on presumption + a disadvantage. Judges are often very unwilling to let the aff recover after a mistake like this, especially when you read several high-quality cards supporting your argument. This file is fully prepped with extensions through the negative block. At only $3 it is a high-value deal that you will want to start the year off with.

    Rosa Parks

The goal of a theory argument is to present an issue and a route through which we can address the problem. Generally, this route is either "drop the argument" or "drop the debater".

This file is a variant of the latter route, with one significant difference: it calls for the judge to vote against the person who presented the theory argument. It relies on the metaphor of mutiny and rebellion to prove that the best way to solve a problem is to create a martyr that instigates change in the debate community. The less "fair" the treatment, the better.

This is strategic because you can very often beat people who are vastly better theory debaters than yourself by making the debate smaller. It can also function as a great timesuck; you can simultaneously neutralize a very long theory objection with a single turn and also put the ball back in the other team's court.

I also like this argument because it's applicable in almost every round. Any time theory comes up, you can use this file.

There are some drawbacks: one is opportunity cost, in that running this turn prevents you from making your own theory objections. Furthermore, you'll find that many judges have a prohibitively high threshold for such clearly abusive arguments, so be prepared to spend a lot of rebuttal time to win this position.

    "USFG" planflaw

This argument is undefeated at fast tournaments, and is almost a guaranteed win in the instance that your opponents get lazy typing up their plantext. What makes this really strategic is that there are very few (if any) offensive reasons for teams to abbreviate "United States federal government." It functions like a topicality argument, but has some devastating solvency deficits (like the "USFG" being the United States Faceter's Guild, not the federal government--yes, this is an actual thing http://www.usfacetersguild.org/history.shtml)

This file is ready to read, and includes answers to every argument that an Affirmative in this deep of a hole could make. Comes complete with Neg Block extensions of all major 1NC arguments, and by the time the 2NR rolls around, you honestly won't need 2NR blocks. If not an A-Strat, this is simply a file you should have in your tubs.

However, this file is still a good buy if you aren't looking to thrash some poor team on a plan-flaw: lots of the evidence i cut for the block includes arguments about the importance of grammar and ambiguity in policy-making, as well as the relationships between different agencies (which could be handy for people wanting to go hard on the A-Spec debate). Additionally, the Topicality theory blocks contain good evidence that can be applied to any argument with a limits or reasonability debate. Basically, if you are someone who plans on making Topicality, or any other language-based procedural, you should buy this file.

    Mass Theory File

This file is a 109 pages, 105 topic theory file. In most theory files it's simply a random assortment of frontlines, blocks and random analyticals that don't always match up. This file is meant to be a cohesive, streamlined approach that makes theory an efficient and flexible tool for students ranging from high school novice to university senior.

It includes in depth answers on most general theory arguments (Counterplan/K statuses, Perms, ASPEC good/bad) and also more rare arguments (abuse good/bad, test case fiat good/bad, reverse voting issues good/bad) and many more.

Too many teams lose easy rounds because they're missing a theory argument or their files haven't been updated in years. With this file that won't be the case.

Below is the table of contents describing all the topics covered; additionally the concept for the file is included to give a better idea of how the file functions.

Below is an example of how the argumentation of each topic works:

Consider for a second the money, time and effort put into the entirety of the debate season. The risk/reward for an 8 dollar file compared to the amount of time/resources your team is going to spend of the rest of the season is well worth it. Besides which, it'll pay off well over 8 dollar's worth.

These are sweet carded responses to many of the typical framework arguments that you will hear as a Critical team. Many of these cards you probably haven't seen before - and they are cards that I personally use and win many rounds on in college debate now. Also some more external turns to framework. This file is round-tested, ready to go. Enjoy working their frame back at them.

This is a steal! For $8 you get a massive 260 page Framework file. This is a must-have file for every debater's arsenal. It is loaded with frontlines, topicality arguments, and anticipated "answers to" blocks. Check out the table of contents to see what you'll get. Other folks offer to sell a framework file, but none are this comprehensive and as organized as this one.Questions? Email me at zompetti@aol.com

    Procedural Killer/Abuse Stopper

    Table of Contents

Simple enough for a novice to understand, yet deep enough for varsity debate, this includes affirmative answers to all of the procedurals that you are likely to see, and they are written to work for any case. Take care of A, E, F, O spec, along with X T, FX T, and other arguments. The abuse stopper contains abuse arguments that an affirmative team is likely to see like New in the 2. This includes 24 blocks and arguments total with a quick reference explanation of procedural arguments in case you freeze mid-round. All blocks/arguments are ready to read as is, there is no need to piece anything together during your prep time. These can also be used any year as written and can be passed down from one year to another.

    Theory File

This is a 50 page theory file inluding fiat good/bad. For the most part all the frontlines are ready to go, you might want to read over them in-case i messed up on changing them over to National Service because its the theory file i used in my last 2 years of debate.

For a file that you will be able to use EVERY round, aff and neg, and EVERY topic from Novice to College, its a steal at 5 dollars.

Tired of losing to K teams just because you want to (shockingly) talk about policy in a POLICY DEBATE? Then buy this file. This is a really good CARDED framework file. Every page in the file has at least one card on it.There are answers that can be used against critical affs and k's themselves along with specific answers on about 3 common K authors. If you're wondering about the cost of the file, I'll justify it by saying that these cards are not easy to find. This is a file that you will find very handy.

This file is an in-depth ASPEC file. I say "in-depth" because it goes beyond the shell and has answers to the most common answers to ASPEC. This file will be useful for as long as you're in policy debate.

    1ar answer to dropped Voters

Everyone has been in the position where the 2ac has dropped a voting issue which is meaningless/cheapshot. The arguments are reason why you reject the argument, and gives you some offense on the position in the 1ar.
and for only a dollar, it makes some debates alot more simple.

    Good Framework Card

This file is just one card, but it is a scanned card from a book. It is a very very good card about why abiding by the norms of institutions like debate is in fact a good thing. It's a card from Alan Gewirth, Mr. Intervening Actors himself, a likely affirmative author in a critical aff. It's also pretty low under the radar. I've read it in a debate once (victoriously) and as far as I know that is the only time it has been read.

    Sua Sponte!!!

    Table of Contents

This is the argument the affirmative plans must rule with a test case. Sua Sponte is the legal term used when the court rules without one. This file is really really good. Heres whats inside:A written out theory violation that says ruling w/o a test case is unpredictable and hurts negative ground. A counterplan to rule on the next appropriate test case with net benefits. (they will have no answer to this counterplan, and im pretty sure it has never been run in debate... but im young so im probablly wrong)A bunch of disads to ruling sua sponte: legitimacy, due process, judicial discretion, judicial neutrality, activism, etc etc etc. Check out the index. Affirmative answers just in case. This file will more than likely win you a debate next year. Im just sad I will never get to use it. Oh well, maybe next year. Best of luck.

    Comprehensive Theory File

    Table of Contents

If you have ever read arguments from a theory handbook written from a time during or before the dinosaurs you should be embarrassed. And buy this file! Advantages of owning this weapon:Fully editable- Microsoft word format allows you to add arguments from this file to your existing theory blocks. Impact Comparisons- this file contains something other files wont: impact calculus arguments. Ground over limits. Education over Ground. These arguments win theory debates! And save you prep time. Qualified Authorship- “Just because Austin is a theory God doesn’t mean he will beat us on this intrinsic permutation”-SMS debater shortly before loosing on an intrinsic permutation. I go for theory more than anyone I know. We went for theory in every affirmative debate at last years heart of America. My reputation and record can speak for itself. Guarantee- This file is more than a file it’s a tutorial. I will work with any debater who buys this file and looses a theory debate. *excludes d3 college debaters who will inevitably buy this file. What are you waiting for? But it now!

    Consultation Bad

This is the file that won me a lot of debates against consultation counterplans. These arguments are theoretically bad for a number of reasons and the 2AC, 1AR, and 2AR blocks in this file will make the extension of this claim almost idiot proof.

This is a fully blocked conditionality bad file - 2AC, 1AR, and 2AR are limited thought needed. Great for a team learning theory debates and great for a team where one partner might be weaker on theory or word economy than the other. A deal at 5 dollars.
