So I just attended a meeting as part of Divest Nebraska with Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, about Sudan divestment legislation. It was interesting, for a politician he's kind of likeable in person. He voted for the House divestment bill, and seems really supportive of a unicameral bill along the same lines which we'll try to get introduced in January.
Some of us will also be traveling to Council Bluffs Thursday morning to see Barack Obama speak.

^^^^That actually surprises me... I remember working for Connealy's campaign freshman year and we were so furious when Fortenberry got elected... At least he's on our side on one issue.

I campaigned for Connealy in the summer of 2004 also. But he started doing some questionable shit in the autumn, like running adds saying he'd voted "90% with Republicans" and also he attempted to get Steve Larrick (Green party candidate) shut out of the debates.
I can't say what Connealy or Maxine Moul would do in Fortenberry's position. Some Republicans have been very active on Darfur legislation, like Brownback, who is currently co-sponsoring I think a Sudan divestment bill in the Senate with Senator Durbin. Fortenberry's interest may have increased since he's now on the Africa & Health Aid committee.

I wasn't really impressed by his speech when I saw him. Mostly he just defended his recent foreign policy remarks by saying we need to get past conventional Washington thinking. I'm sure invading Pakistan would be pretty conventional for a unilateral superpower at this point...
His wife, Michelle, is a really good speaker though.

Theres no good Green candidates out there that I like, (no ones really stepped up to the plate), so I honestly don't know who I'm voting for.

Kucinich is essentially a Green candidate running on the Democratic ticket.

Elaine Brown, a former chairwoman of the Black Panthers, is running for the Green's nomination. There's some rumors that Cynthia McKinney may also try and get it.

Yeah, when I re-read it I thought about that, but I decided to leave it. It does convey my meaning and everyone knows that grammer and spelling have never been my strongest subjects....although I did get a 34 on the English section of the ACT, go figure.

I take it you didn't get a 34 on the comprehension part?
